She was born March 12, 1956, to Robert and Dor- othy (Johnson) Bowell.

She lived at home with her mother in Lone Rock. She was a big Elvis fan. She is survived by her mother, Dorothy Bowell; sisters, Nancy (John) Haehl, Plain, and Susan (Duane) Taves, Tomahawk; four nieces, Carrie (Michael) Credico, Dawn Haehl (Dave), Melissa Bow- ell, and Frankie Rosenberg; two nephews, Danny (Carol) Bowell and Sammy Rosenberg; 11 great-nieces and one great-great- nephew; two great-great-nieces; many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Bowell; sister, Lori Rosenberg; and grandparents, Alvin and Alma Johnson and Roland and Christine Bowell. Bethel, Ellen L. MADISON Ellen L. Bethel, age 68, passed away on Saturday, Dec. 11, 2021, at St. Hospital.

She was born on Dec. 6, 1953, to Elmer and Mary (Stevenson) Bethel in Mad- ison, Wis. Ellen married Al Wessel on Jan. 9, 1982, in Madison, Wis. A celebration of life will be held at 11 a.m.

on Saturday, Dec. 18, at LAKEVIEW LUTHERAN CHURCH, 4001 Mandrake Road, Madison, WI. Visitation will take place at 10 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will take place at Lakeview Lutheran Cemetery at a later date.

12, 2021, at her home at Riverwalk in Waterloo, of natural causes. She was born March 26, 1929, in Beloit to John and Rose Sullivan George. She attended Brother Dut- ton Grade School, St. Springs Academy in Fond du Lac, and gradu- ated from St. College of Notre Dame, in 1951 with a degree in English.

She taught at Catholic schools in Milwaukee and Beloit for a few years before marriage. Sara married Robert Crave, a Brother Dutton classmate, on Aug. 21, 1954, at St. Jude Church in Beloit. Bob and Sara were the parents of Charles (Joni), George (Debbie), and Thomas (Janet) of Waterloo; Mary of Madison; Paul (Delwyn) of Beloit; Bridget (Glen Vilim) of Onalaska; and Mark (Tina) of Watertown.

Sara liked to point out that all seven of her children were redheads. Sara was a substitute language arts and social studies teacher and a very active leader in the Beloit community. She served on several boards, such as the Turner School Board, where she was elected its rst female president; the Beloit Library Board; and Rock County 4-H Fair Board. She also served many roles in St. Jude parish life and liturgy: she was a member of the Marian Guild, of the parish council, sang in the choir for many years, and was a gifted lector.

Sara was a 4-H volunteer, literacy volunteer, and avid supporter of her and grandchil- sports, music and 4-H activities. She was gracious in stating her opinions, a promoter of social justice issues, was a stickler for grammar, and had a quick wit and knack for impersonating people. She enjoyed playing bridge with the same women for more than 55 years. About 10 years ago, Sara and Bob moved from Beloit to Waterloo, where she quickly made friends through church and enjoyed frequent visits with family members. In addition to her husband and children, Sara is survived by 19 grand- children and 10 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sister Carla Crave, CSA; and many George and Crave nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by brothers, Ben (Olive), William, and Richard (Marge) George; sister, Rosemary Sheehan; and sisters, Ruth Power, Lucille Freeman Farrington, and Helen Kinney. The family is grateful for the attention and compassionate care of the sta at Riverwalk and Rainbow Hospice during nal weeks. A memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 21, at 11:30 a.m. at HOLY FAMILY PARISH, Waterloo campus, with Father John Hedrick presiding and Father Jorge Miramontes concelebrating.

A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday. Private burial services will be in Beloit at Calvary Cemetery at a later date. The Mass will also be livestreamed at www.holyfamily.info. The family requests that masks be worn in church.

Karls, Dorothy Mae (Field) DEFOREST Dorothy Mae (Field) Karls, age 89, passed away on Fri- day, Dec. 10, 2021, at her home in DeForest.

She was born May 31, 1932, in Walnut Grove, to Elmer and Ida (Lohrbach) Loriks. When Dorothy was young, Elmer passed away, and she was raised by her stepfather, Harold Field. Doro- thy graduated from Middleton High School and married Roger Meister on March 17, 1951. Together they had three children, Mary, Louis and Glen. Roger passed away on Aug.

11, 1955. As a young widow, Dorothy worked evenings as a waitress until she met Stanley Karls. They were married on Aug. 10, 1957. Together they added ve more children to their family, Cathy, Terry, Daryl, Peggy and Kelly.

Dorothy worked at home, raising her children. After they were grown, Dorothy worked for the State of Wisconsin, Department of Revenue, retiring in 1996 after 18 years. Dorothy loved playing cards and found it an excellent way to stay connected with longtime friends. She was a member of St. Olaf Catholic Church and choir member for over 50 years, volunteered for the RSVP and the DeForest Area Community Center and many other organizations.

Dorothy was a woman of deep faith. She was a devoted mother, grand- mother and great-grandmother, and family was extremely important to her. Dorothy was known to make a large spaghetti dinner for every one of her birthdays. Dorothy is survived by her eight children, Mary (Jon) Moltzau, Louie (Debbie) Meister, Glen (Phyllis) Meister, Cathy (Pat) Ripp, Terry (April) Karls, Daryl (Bryan) Holliday, Peggy (Gary) Ripp and Kelly (Ken) Clemens; 30 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren and two more on the way; her sister, Mary Jane Ringelstetter; and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Stanley Karls; grandson, Andrew; her parents; and her brother, Harold Field.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Dec. 17, at ST. OLAF CATHOLIC CHURCH, 623 Je erson DeForest, with Father Jared Holzhuter presiding. A visitation will be held from 4 p.m.

to 7 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 16, at RYAN FUNERAL HOME, 6924 Lake Road, DeFor- est, and again on Friday, Dec. 17, at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass.

Raised in Fond du Lac, he graduated from Goodrich High School and continued his education at UW-Madison, earn- ing a in business manage- ment and a degree in real estate development. Bill was most at home when he was in nature, and whether it be traveling, camping or going for long bike rides, he longed for the outdoors. As a real estate developer in the Fitchburg area, his projects embodied this passion, and he successfully created beautiful and en- vironmentally conscious living spaces surrounded by peaceful, natural settings. Bill was outgoing, ever positive and possessed a true love of life. He cared deeply for his family and with a permanent glow of happiness and a resounding laugh, made friends easily and surrounded himself with quality people.

He is survived by sisters, Karen (Dick) Baker and Judie Peterson; and six nephews and their families. Bill was preceded in death by his mother and father; sister, Dana Schiel; brother-in-law, Jim Peterson; and great- nephew, Henry Williams. A memorial service will be held at MADISON EAST SEVENTH DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH, 910 Femrite Drive, Monona, on Friday, Dec. 17 at 11 a.m. In lieu of owers, memorials may be made to the National Audubon Society or International Care.

9, 2021, at St. Hospital. She was born on Sept. 8, 1945, in La Crosse, the daughter of Lou and Gertrude (Nuttelman) Stello. Cheryl graduated from Central High School in La Crosse.

She mar- ried William Tesnow on July 23, 1966. Her purpose was to make others feel loved and special, and she did an amazing job at that. Cheryl is survived by daughter, Michelle Jolly (Craig); daughter, Nicole Tesnow; son, Daniel Tesnow; and husband, William Tesnow; and she touched so many more lives. Services will be held at BETHEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 312 Wisconsin Madison, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Dec.
