Training provided. 244-3911. A man armed with a knife stabbed a pit bull in his attempt to rob the dogs owner Sunday morning.

Police said a 32-year-old woman was attacked at Warner Park, on Madisons northeast side, around 2:15 a.m., as she took her dog for a walk. The woman insisted she had no money and the man tried to hit her. She ducked and ran, but her dog stayed behind. Known for POLICE REPORT their tough demeanor, pit bulls are prized for their knack at repelling would-be thieves. In this case, however, the man took the upper hand, stabbed the dog and fled.
