Guilty of Bribe MONROE (AP) A former, superintendent of a municipal sewage disposal plan was found guilty Monday on two counts of accepting a bnbe. Lewis Niffenegger, 45, was ac- cused of accepting checks from a chemical salesman for a Northbrook, firm. The salesman was found guilty last month of eight counts of bribery involving municipal of- ficials in Rock and Iowa A Sentencing of Niffenegger was scheduled for July 1 by the Green County Court.

The cases stem from an Oshkosh-based investigation of lobbying between municipal officials and the firms which sell supplies to the municipalities. Officials and firms in several communities have been Electric Power Co. scheduled a news conference today amid published reports it dans to build a coal-fired electric generating plant near Kenosha. The report appeared to offset a possibility that a nuclear-powered plant being considered by a combine of utilmes might be built in southeastern Wisconsin. Wisconsin Electric is a member of a utilities combine that is looking at several sites for an nuclear plant.

The utilities are encountering some local concern over nuclear safety factors and environmental protection. The search played a role in efforts to enact legislation which would allow local residents to have a greater voice in selecting plant sites. The measure died this month when the legislature adjourned for the year. The prospective nuclear sites include the Town of Paris in Kenosha County. Other sites are the Village of Haven in Sheboygan County, Lake Koshkonong in Jefferson County, Rudolph Wood County 1974.
