Hes not concerned about his job prospects, because Ill be good at what I do. A number of students like Jay me Garrett, an East graduate, said they are planning to attend MATC for a year or two before transferring to a four-year college. Garrett admitted that she was at first scared about moving away from home and figured MATC could be one small step before the big break. Plus, attending nearby MATC will allow her save more money. Jill Musser, an East graduate, plans to wait a year before starting more school, because she wants a break from studying.

Since she wants to go into business, she hopes to get a job in a bank or some other business this summer. Coreyne Woodman said after she was in a car accident that injured her knee, she didnt know if she would be able to walk up to get her diploma. But East Continued from Page 3A the University of Wisconsin-Madison and later work in the international business field. But shes already concerned about job prospects. It seems like theres and more people and less jobs, meaning she will have to study hard in college, she said.

Christie Pulvermacher, a Monona Grove High School graduate, is planning a route that is both pragmatic and potentially lucrative. She wants to study chemical engineering and later do research work. Its a better field for women. Theyre more in demand because there arent enough of them, she said. Rustin Taylor, an East graduate, plans to study television broadcast communications at Grambling State University and of South Beloit, Illinois; a step-sister, Diana Weckerly of Monroe; brothers-In-law and slsters-ln-law, Harry and Margaret Johnson of Bruce, and Nora Schroeder and Lawrence Henn of Lodi; and many nieces and nephews.

It's a small, private, all-womens college. Meyer likes the idea of a small school and believes that having only women there will help build her self-esteem and confidence. Not everyone is heading for those ivory towers.

Jenny Nelson, a La Follette High School graduate, said she plans to get a job and save some money and doubts she will end up going on to school. I dont like school as it is, and I dont want to go through any more of it, she said. Nelson expects she will get a job in typing or filing or something related. Schooling is a lot more than going to class, said Jesse Jager, a Memorial High School graduate, who plans to study wildlife biology at the University of Wis-consin-Stevens Point. You also learn how to deal with people. Cool people.

Crappy people. Thats probably one of the most important lessons. Michelle Landphier, a La Follette graduate, said one of her teachers stands out as one of the most important she met in school. She just taught me a lot about working towards what you believe in and not letting things get in your way, she said. Woman contacts police again with murder tip A woman, who may have information the Dane County Sheriffs Department needs to solve the brutal murder of Denise Stark last Thursday at Token Creek Park, has called the department back.

Gerald Hundt said the woman called back today and a detective had been assigned to contact her. Stark, 30, was found nude and stabbed to death in a mens restroom at the park about 2 p.m. She had been sunbathing at the park.

Capt. Mike Plumer said the woman called the departments tipster line (266-TIPS) reporting that she had seen a suspicious-looking man in the park she believed was related to the slaying of Stark. The woman did not give her name or number, or a date or time for when she saw the man in the park. Plumer said the tip was one of many that investigators have been following up. He said he had no way of knowing the validity of the tip until it could be checked out.

Dobberpuhl, Robert Charles MADISON Robert Charles Dobberpuhl, age 30, died of complications of a rare genetic disease, Friday, June 4, 1993, at University of Wlsconsin-Madlson Hospital. He was a resident of the Madison Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center at the time of his death. He spent most of his childhood years In Cedarburg, Wisconsin and later In Moslpee, Wisconsin. He graduated with both Bachelors and Masters degrees In History from the University of Wlsconsln-Mllwaukee. In the latter case, he was awarded the highest of university honors for his research. He was offered fellowships at two universities to work on a doctoral degree but was unable to accept either because the health Insurance they offered would not cover his transplant medication costs.

Even as the academic door would not allow him to enter, he summoned his energy to begin a petition drive odvocatlng Insurance coverage for transplant patients. He worked tirelessly to obtain thousands of signatures from transplant clinics across the United States. His plan, until he fell III, was to bicycle to Washington D.C. with the petitions and present them to the government on the steps of the United States Capitol. Although Robert was never able to see that project, along nized, many academic staff who perform many student services functions dont feel recognized.

My concern is not to spend more money or bloat it what we have is about right. But we have to understand what they do and give those folk a little more respect. Q. Is there anything inappropriate about you being chancellor and your wife, Judith, working for the UW System? A. The issue of spousal employment is a national issue.

If both people are seen as having integrity, it is not a problem. I think you both have to hold yourself to very high standards of integrity whenever it looks like the two parts of your lives are coming together. It so happens that she and I have done things that have been so discreet, so separate that that has not been an issue. On the other hand, the degree to which that question has been asked, I have to face it. I personally dont believe its a problem, but the fact that people ask me about this means that we have to look at it.

wCARPET all roll ends material order with many others, to completion, his friends and family have pledged to carry on his work. Weve automated registration, created more small classes for freshmen and a number of other things. The next step is to do a better job in general eduation, especially in areas of English competency and science literacy where we have to develop curricula that address the different needs of students in different majors.
