CAPITAL TIMES, Wednesday, Apr.19, Mother of U. Soils Specialist Mrs. Finetta Chapman Dies At Darlington At Age 103 DARLINGTON Mrs. Finetta; Chapman, 103, Darlington's oldest resident, died at her home here Tuesday after a long illness. She is survived by a son in Madison, Prof.

C. J. Chapman, 2565 University veteran University of Wisconsin soils specialist. Mrs. Chapman, the former Finetfa Merriam, was born in Darlington township in October, 1857, and was a lifelong Darlington area resident.

She was the Baptist Church organist, for 65 years, and was organist at the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church for 25 years. She, was a member of the WCTU. was married in 1880 to Faithful William Chapman. The couple lived on a farm for 11 years, then moved to Darlington SO the children could attend schools here. Her husband died in 1901..

Mrs. Chapman suffered in her 103rd year, and although she had lost her sight and her hearing, her interest in life remained keen. Friends and relatives throughout this area helped celebrate her 100th birthday in 1957. Other survivors include three daughters, Grace, with whom she had, been living; Mrs. Charles' W.

Peterson, and Mrs. R. C. Butz, all of Darlington; and another son, Homer Chapman, Riverside, head of the department of plant, pathology at the University of California Riverside campus. Friends may call at the Sharer funeral home here until noon Thursday.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Darlington Baptist Church. Tom Mead RICHLAND CENTER Tom Mead. 69, Richland Center, died Tuesday (Apr. 18, 1961) at his home after a brief illness.

Mr. Mead worked for years at the Krouskop Lumber Co. before retiring 10 years ago. survived by his wife, Lulu; twososons, Paul, Beloit; and Howard, Orange, four brothers, Leo, Beloit; Frank, Blanchardville; William, Greensburg, and Jerry, Richland Center; three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Scott and Mrs.

Ruby Kilby, both of Richland Center; and Mrs. Edward' Cole, Beloit; and eight grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday in the LunenschlossHansen funeral home. Friends may call at the funeral home after 2 p.m.

Thursday: Henry Lee Henry 0. Lee, 72, Chicago, a native of Windsor, Dane county, died Tuesday night: in a Chicago hospital. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Alma, Hinrichs, Windsor, and a niece, Miss Lucille Hartwig, MadThe, body will be brought to the Gunderson funeral home, 1936 Winnebago st. here.

Hans Kittleson, Rio Treasurer 44 Years, Dies RIO Hans Kittleson, 82, treasurer of Rio for 44 years, died Tuesday in a Columbus hospital. He was a volunteer fireman for 22 years and was formerly employed by the old Hanson Co. store. Born in Norway, he came to the United States when he was 8 and lived in 'Rio most of his life. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.

m. Thursday in the Rio Lutheran Church. Friends may call at the Thompson-Kellogg funeral home, Rio, until noon Thursday. Surviving are his wife, Hannah; two sons, Hilman, Cobb; and HarIan, Northbrook, and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Langkos, ria; and Mrs.

Rena Neby, St. Paul, Minn, Mrs. John Gessert WATERTOWN Funeral serv. ices for Mrs. John Gessert, 73, Watertown, will be held at 2 p.

m. Thursday in the Noffz funeral home here. She died Sunday. Mrs. Gessert was a member of St.

Mark's Lutheran Church, its Ladies Aid Society, the Gold Star Mothers, and the American Legion auxiliary. Among the survivors is a sister, Mrs. Albert Richards, Madison. Also surviving are her usband; a daughter, Mrs. Talmadge Buntin, McDill Air Force Base, a brother, William Zur, Watertown; a sister, Mrs.

William Goers, Lake Mills; and three grandchildren. Friends may call at the funeral after 3 p. m. today. Mrs.

John Boutwell COLUMBUS Mrs. John Boutwell, 83, lifelong resident of Columbus, died in a local hospital. The former Clara Altschwager was married to John Boutwell in 1910. Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m.

Thursday in the Zeidler-Alberts funeral home, where friends may call until then. Surviving are her husband; a brother, William, Columbus; and four sisters, Mrs. Elsie Rudloff, Moses Lake, and Mrs. Frank Copeland, Miss Irma Alt-, schwager, and Mrs. Herbert Ninabuck, all of Columbus.

Mrs. Lloyd Williams STOUGHTON Funeral rites for Mrs. Lloyd Williams, 60, Stoughton, formerly of Lone Rock, who died Tuesday in a nursing home here, will be held Friday at 2. p. m.

in the Edison-Olson funeral home here. The Rev. Oscar Stanke of the First Methodist Church will officiate, and burial will be in Riverside cemetery, Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 p. m. Thursday until time of services.

In the Solemn Hours Flowers are more comforting than words. Mrs. Finetta Chapman Mrs. Lena Fix Dies At Age 76 STOUGHTON Mrs. Lena Fix, 76, a resident at the Skaalen Sunset Home here since 1958 who formerly lived in Madison and Mt.

Horeb, died Tuesday night at a hospital here. She was the widow of Leo Fix, to whom she was married in 1914. He died in 1920. Mrs. Fix was born in 1885 at Mt.

Horeh, the daughter of the late nd Mrs. Sigurd Asknes. She is survived by a foster brother, Rev. C. S.

Thompson, Eau Claire, and several nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Holzhuter funeral home here from 2 p.m. Thursday until 10 a.m. Friday, when the body will be taken to the Skaalen Home chapel. Funeral rites will be held in the Skaalen Home chapel at 1:30 p.m.

Friday, with the Rev. Oscar Thompson, chaplain there. officiatling. Burial will be in the Mt. Horeb cemetery.

Ole Jacobson HILLSBORO Ole G. Jacobson, 76, Tupelo, a former longtime Hillsboro area resident, died in Clarksburg, W. Monday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the Hart funeral home, Hillsborlo, where friends may call tonight and Thursday morning.

A retired farmer and merchant, Mr. Jacobson was born in Greenwood township. He was married' to the former Allie Johnson in Hillsboro in 1909. Mr. Jacobson was a member of the Greenwood Lutheran Church and served as its treasurer.

After Mrs. Jacobson's death in 1954, he moved to Tupelo to live with his son Russell. Mr. Jacobson was visiting his son, Robert, in Clarksburg when, he died. Surviving in Madison are two sisters, Mrs.

Gertie Onsager, 5616 Joylynne and Mrs. Martha Hagen, 702 Ontario st. Other survivors include two sons, Maurice, Mt. Vernon, and Donald, Yuba; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Mrs. Dillree, 70, Orfordville, Dies ORFORDVILLE Mrs. Jennie Dillree, 70, a lifelong Orfordville area resident, died Tuesday at the home of her brother Lawrence Hammell, Brodhead. Active in civic and club affairs, Mrs. Dillree was a member of the Plymouth Methodist Church, the American Legion auxiliary, the Magnolia 4-H club, and the Magnolia Mothers club.

She was a 50-year member of the Royal Neighbors of America. She was married to John L. Dillree in 1908. Mr. Dillree died in 1949.

Mrs. Dillree is also survived by two sons, John, Beloit, and Boyd, Louisville, and four daughters, Mrs. Faye Burtness, Orfordville: Mrs. Joyce Freitag, Lynwood, and Mrs. Genevieve Garvey and Mrs.

Maxine Diehls, both of Beloit. Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Belle McMullen, Janesville; and Mrs. Ruth Tollefsrud, West Allis; 25 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m.

Olaf Olsen BELOIT Funeral services for Olaf Olsen, 65, Beloit, a former Evansville resident, who died Monday at his home, will be held Friday at 1:30 p. in the Rosman-Uehling-Kinzer ver fun al home here. He had been working with his employer, William Parrell, in repair work on the roof of the building, and came down to answer the telephone.

Mr. Drake, a veteran of the Korean no previously known heart condition, An autopsy was ordered by Dane County Coroner Michael Malloy to determine cause of death. Besides working at the mill, Mr. Drake drove a bus for the Black Earth School. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a son, William, also at home; his parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Floyd Drake, Black Earth; and two sisters, Mrs. Clayton Harrison, 106 N. Blount Madison, and Mrs. Laverne Kast, Los Angeles, Calif.

The body is at the Schanel funeral home, Black Earth. Mrs. Thelma Dunston Mrs. Thelma Dunston, 55, of 205 Jackson died in a Madison hospital Tuesday. Mrs.

Dunston is survived by a son, Sherman, 1901 Scott lane: and three daughters, Mrs. Daniel Shaker, Anoka, Mrs. Robert Smith, Morrisonville; and Judy, 205 Jackson st. Robert Vornholt, Spring Green, died Monday at his home after a heart attack. He was pastor of Congregational-Christian Churches in Odell and Edmington, and a former pastor at Mormon Coulee Congregational Church near La Crosse la Evangelica. and Reformed Churches in West Bend and Milwaukee. His son, Robert is pastor of the Lone Rock and Spring Green Cong re gational Churches, and father, the Rev. Edwin Vornholt, Stevens Point, was pastor of Memorial Evangelical and Reformed Church in Madison for several years.

The Rev. Esra Vornholt was a graduate of the Mission House Seminary, Plymouth, and the University of Chicago Theological Seminary, Surviving are his wife; his son. the Rev. Robert Vornholt, Spring Green; his father, the Rev. Ed(win Vornholt.

Stevens Point; and two granddaughters. Funeral services will be held Wednesday in Odell, Ill. Burial will be in Oklahoma. Eugene Erickson BLACK EARTH Funeral Eugene Erickson, 72, a former resident of the town of Vermont, who died Monday at the Dane County Home, Verona, will be held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Vermont Lutheran Church.

The Rev. 0. R. Solberg will officiate. land burial will be in the church cemetery.

The former Magdalene Beckius and her husband farmed in the Mineral Point area until retirement in 1927 when they moved to Mineral Point.

He died in 1934. was a member of St. Catholic Church, Mineral Point, and its Christian Mothers' Sodality. Surviving are five Mrs. Fred Dochnahl, Mrs.

Mrs. Peter Dalles Charles Kimbrel -Charles Kimbrel, 38, Beloit, died Monday in a Madison hospital. Funeral services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday in 1 Our Lady of Assumption Catholic Church, Beloit. The rosary will be recited at 7:30 tonight in the Daley-Murphey-Wisch funeral home.
