Sarmadi, Maryam G. VERONA Maryam Ghassemian Sarmadi passed on peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at 9:00 a.m., surrounded by her loving family and friends, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in the Holy City of Mashad, Iran, the beloved daughter of Fate-meh and Jafar Ghassemian. Maryam always had a special love for children. She earned a degree in elementary education in Iran and taught school for a time.

After moving to Atlanta, Georgia, as a young adult, she became a professional hair stylist. On March 13, 1987, she married Maiid Sarmadi, a professor in the textile and material science graduate program at UW-Madison, and made her new home in Madison. Maryam was trained in horseback riding at Iran's Royal Academy and she continued to enjoy riding for pleasure throughout Her life. She was very artistic and she brought elegance and aesthetics to all she touched. Maryam brought extraordinary love and joy to her family and friends with her open heart and playful spirit.

Her 11-year-old daughter, Elham "Ellie," was a special light in her life. Maryam is survived by her husband, Majid; her daughter, Elham; her mother, Fatemeh; her father, Jafar; two brothers, Reza and Ahmad Ghassemian; two nieces, Sierra and Rayhaneh Ghassemian; and numerous other extended family members and friends. A brief funeral service will be held TODAY, Thursday, July 6, 2000, at 9:00 a.m. at CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 speedway Road, Madison. Burial will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens.

An additional memorial service is planned for 7:30 p.m. TODAY at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison. MOUNT HOREB Lorraine M. Scheidegger, age 70, of Mount Horeb, died on Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at Meriter Park Hospital in Madison. Lorraine was born on July 19, 1929, in Mount Horeb, to Charles Funk and Martha (Schmid) Wild. She graduated from Verona Area Schools in 1948. She was a 50-year member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

Survivors are her mother, Martha Wild of Mount Horeb; her children, John (Bev) Scheidegger of Mount Horeb, Lynn (Rick) Martin of Parker, Colorado, Robert A. Scheidegger of Mount Horeb, and Jeanne (her friend, Gary Huseth) Lindberg of Verona; and five grandchildren, Tara Jenkins, Amy Scheidegger, Daniel Lindberg, Lindsey Scheidegger and Kelly Martin. Siewert, Frank Coach PORTAGE Frank Coach Siewert, age 79, of Portage, died on Monday, July 3, 2000, at Maple Ridge Elderly Care in Portage. Julie married Keith Walrack on November 3, 1973, in Madison. She graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in 1963 and worked 10 years as a manager of Monona Meadows Retirement Home. Julie's hobbies included fishing, collecting Beanie playing the slot machines and bingo. The moments she treasured most were those spent watching her. sons enjoy life.

Her life will be celebrated everyday in the hearts of her, family. Survivors include her husband, Keith; four sons, Michael (Donelle) Kennedy, Brian Walrack, and David Kennedy, all of Madison, and Daniel (Tiffany) Walrack, River Falls; her parents, Frank and Phyllis Nilson, Beloit; and four brothers, Richard (Debbie Nilson, Madison, Steven (Kathy) Nilson, Clinton, and Douglas (Debbie) Nilson and Robert Nilson, both of Beloit. She was born on July 5, 1966, in. Edgerton, Wisconsin, the daughter of George F. and Norma J. (Ko-pischke) Rogers. She married Eric.

Whipple on June 19, 1993, at Quiv-ey's Grove in Madison. They lived in Madison until six years ago, when they moved to Evansville. Judi was an MRI Technologist at Turville Bay MRI and was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in. Madison. She loved the outdoors, animals and photography.

Judi is; survived by her husband, Eric of Evansville; her parents, George and Norma Rogers of McFarland; her father- and mother-in-law, Gordie and Yvonne Whipple of her maternal grandmother, Bernice Kopischke of Edgerton; paternal grandparents, Will and Colleen' Rogers of Florida; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews; and her pets, I.C. Winnie and Pippi. She was preceded in death by her maternal' grandfather, Norman C. Kopischke. A memorial service will be neld on Saturday, July 8, 2000, at 9:30 a.m.

He was born on July 27, 1972, in Milwaukee to George O. Zach and Barbara Jautz-Zach. He was a 1990 graduate of Waukesha North High School. He received his B.A. degree from UW-Madison in 1995 and later his teaching certificate from Carroll College.

He was currently, the manager of Spring City Cycle, Waukesha, and was very active in cycling. Survivors include his parents; as well as his sisters, Theresa (Bassam) Takli and Rebecca Zach. His paternal grandparents, George Sr. and Virginia Zach; his Alana Takli; other relatives ana many friends further survive. He was preceded in death by his mater-, nal grandparents, William and Dorothy Jautz.

Holpin, PHI age 53, was set free from his long illness on Tuesday, July 4, 2000. James was born on January 13, 1947, in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin. He was a veteran of Vietnam and worked in the auto body business for most of his life. Jim will be remembered for his great love of cars and dogs. He is survived by his son, Mark Holpin of Deerfield; a granddaughter, Lauren Bell-Holpin; father, Bill Holpin of Madison; mother, Arlene Horsfall of Oregon; step-mother, Marian Kress of Marshall; brothers, Larry (Sharon) and Mike (Elaine) Holpin, both of Oregon; half-brother, Jeff (Beth) Holpin of Indiana; half-sisters, Diane Holpin and Cathy (Bruce) Kimball, both of McFarland; a special devoted and caring niece, Tammy (Art) Kneebone; a great-niece, Allison of Belleville; and many other nieces and nephews.

He was born in Rubicon, Wisconsin, on October 8, 1923, the son of Paul and Emma (Becker) Klink. He graduated from 8th grade in Rubicon and high school at St. Lawrence in Mount Calvary, Wisconsin. Robert married Margaret Carey on September 28, 1946, at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Watertown.

He owned and operated Klink Distributing Inc. in Watertown for 35 years. Robert was a member of St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Watertown, the American Legion, Watertown Elks Club and AM VETS. He served in the U.S.

Marine Corps frqm 1943 until 1945 as a parachutist and automatic rifleman. He served in World War II at Iwo Jima. Survivors include his wife, Margaret, of Watertown; three sons, William (Marieta) of Watertown, Robert E. (Nancy) of Hilton Head, South Carolina, and Tames (Cindy) of Burlington; two daughters, Margaret (Jeff) Lubbe of Mentor, Ohio, and Kathleen Klink of San Diego, California; 12 grandchildren; and two sisters, Margaret Lubeley and Isabel Fas-sbender, both of Milwaukee. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Robert C.

and nine brothers and sisters. The funeral service will be held on Friday, July 7, 2000, at 12:00 noon at ST. BERNARD'S CATHOLIC CHURCH in Watertown. Burial will be at St. Bernard's Cemetery, with traveside military rites performed the Marine Corps.

Alt, age 98, of Spring Green, passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at Greenway Manor Nursing Home. He was born on September 7, 1901, the son of John B. and Katherine (Ringelstetter) Alt.

He was married on September 6, 1965, to the former Catherine Hutter. Herman was a lifelong farmer in the Plain area, a member of St. John's Catholic Church and founder and faithful director of Greenway Manor. Survivors include his wife, Catherine Alt of Spring Green; two nieces, Marie Bauer offspring Green and Florence Goetze of Tacoma, Washington; a nephew, Marvin Alt of Scottsdale, Arizona; and many cousins and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lud-wig and Clarence Alt; and a sister, Emma Pretsch.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, July 7, 2000, at 11:00 a.m. at ST. JOHN'S CATHOLIC CHURCH. Father John Aubey will officiate, with burial in St. Luke's Catholic Cemetery in Plain at 1:30 p.m.

Brauchla, Mace MADISON Mace Brauchla, age 46, died on Tuesday, July 4, 2000, at Meriter-Park Hospital. He was born on January 24, 1954, in Indianapolis, Indiana, the son of Randall and Marian (Ryan) Brauchla.

Mace attended Purdue University and earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry and a master's in education. He taught high school chemistry for 14 years. From 1984 until 1996 he taught chemistry in Evansville, Indiana, at Reitz Memorial Catholic High School. He also coached the academic decathlon teams. Survivors include his former wife of 19 years, Mary Westrick of Madison; a daughter, Mary Catherine "Catie" of Madison; a son, Michael of Madison; two brothers, Lance (Robin) of Ft.

Wayne, Indiana, and William (Lori) of Pateros, Washington; a sister, Therese Brilliandt of Elkhart, Indiana; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents. Funeral services will be held at ST. JOSEPH CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1905 W. Beltline Highway, at 10:00 a.m.

Degner, plj age 64, of Sparta, died on Monday, July 3, 2000, at the Veterans Administration Hospital, Tomah.

He was born in the Town of Woodland, Sauk County, Wisconsin, on January 29, 1936, the son of Herbert and Grace (Rick) Degner. He was baptized and confirmed into the Holy Trinity at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Wo-newoc. The first 19 years of his life were spent on the family farm. After high school he attended UW-Madison, graduating with a bachelor of science degree in agricultural extension.

While attending the university he was a member of the university rowing crew, which won the National Intercollegiate Rowing Association Regatta in 1959. He also participated in ROTC, earning the honor of Distinguished Military Graduate. He entered the U.S. Army in December 1959 as a commissioned officer. In addition to other military schools, he attended the Army Helicopter Pilot Training School, in which he was the Honor Graduate.

After completing flight school he was assigned to the Army Aviation Test Board as a test pilot. During his military career he was stationed at numerous stateside military posts. His overseas assignments included Alaska and Germany. He served two combat tours in Vietnam; one in 1965 and again in 1968. He retired from active Army service in August 1984 with 25 years of service after attaining the rank of lieutenant colonel.

After his retirement he lived in Sparta until his death on Monday, July 3, 2000. He was united in marriage on June 10, 1961, to Christel Hermann St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Wonewoc. Christel died on September 1, 1998. In addition to his wife, Christel, he was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Grace Degner.

He is survived by two sons, Fritz (Kris-tine) Degner, Sparta, and Mark Degner, Dak Park, Illinois; two grandsons, Cody and Joshua Degner, Sparta; a brother. Dr. Eugene (Irmgard) Degner, Reedsburg; and five sisters, Julaine (Harry) Miller, DeForest, Donna yack) Giles, Council Bluffs, Iowa, Nancy (Robert) Richert, Ulysses, Nebraska, Marilyn (Ralph) Eberhardt, Sheboygan, and Beverly (John) Biermeier, LaCrosse. The funeral service will born on July 5, 1923, in Washburn, Wisconsin. Thomas graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

He married Lucille Buchanan on 'August 11, 1951. Thomas was employed by the State of Wisconsin Department of Transportation as a civil engineer for 37 years, retiring in 1985. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater. Thomas was a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and the VFW Post 7591.

He enjoyed playing cards and gardening, was a sports Tan and loved spending time with his family. Thomas is survived by his wife of 49 years, Lucille Morns; his children, James (Beverly) Conway of Ocala, Florida, Michael (Wanda) Conway of Ocala, Florida, Sherry Conway of Holmen, Christi (James) Remsik of Madison, Patricia Haak of Madison, Mary (Dennis! Olson of Onalaska, Thomas (Vicki) Morris of McFarland, Kelly (Roy) Morris Goldbeck of Hudson and Jeff (Jill) Morris of McFarland; 41 grandchildren; 36 greatgrandchildren; two brothers, Dr. Charles (Jeanette) Morris of Dallas, Texas and John (Paulette) Morris of Anpleton, Wisconsin; two sisters, Margaret M. Morris of Minneapolis, Minnesota and Eleanor (Tom) Loo-mis of Tom's River, New Jersey; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Namio, Caroline MADISON Caroline Namio died peacefully in the embrace of her family on Tuesday, July 4, 2000. She was born in Madison on February 9, 1916, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Vitale. She married Joseph J.

Namio on May 23, 1936. Together with her brother and sister-in-law, Frank and Rose Vitale, they owned The Village Bar. Later, Joe and Caroline purchased Sherwood Forest Supper Club and renamed it Namio's Supper Club, a premier lunch and dinner club in Madison. She is survived by her husband, Joe Namio; three daughters, DeDe (Richard) Munz, Jane (Bob Briggs) Lien and Kathy (Stan) Reed; six grandchildren, Susan Ehle, Debra Clark, Lisa King, Jeff Lien, and Joey and Tina Terzick; great-grandchildren, C.J. Ehle, Tyler Clark, and Jordan and Andrew King; step-sisters, Francis Buscemi, Catherine Gianquinto, and Vicki Pellitteri-Stassi; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sam Namio, Ann (Steve) Carsvello of Madison, John (Sis) Namio of Phoenix, Arizona; several nieces, nephews, freat-nieces and great-nephews, he was preceded in death hy her parents; her daughter, Josephine 'Jojo" Terzick; her brothers, Frank and Jim Vitale; and her sister-in-law, Rose Vitale.

Never a harsh judgement, always a willing listener and an inner strength that was formidable. This unassuming woman was the rock her family was built on. Reierson, Norman R. RIO Norman R. Reierson, age 84, of rural Rio, passed away on Tues day, July 4, 2000, at Columbus Community Hospital. He was born on January 4, 1916, in the Township of Lowville, the son of Raymond and Nellie (Tollefson) Reierson. He graduated from Rio High School in 1934.

He married the former Adeline J. Staveness on September 27, 1941, at Bonnet Prairie Lutheran Church near Rio. Norman's passion was for fanning, which he was involved in most of his life. In addition to his being a farmer, he was also in road construction until World War II. At this time he performed his patriotic duties by working in construction at defense airbases, including but not limited to Mitchell, Truax and Chanute.

Norman also worked at Gisholt Machine Tool Company of Madison in the early 1960s until the company closed in 1971. Norman was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Rio. Eggers, age 69, of 2626 Chatsworth Drive, Beloit, Wisconsin, died on Monday, July 3, 2000, in St. Lukes Hospital, Milwaukee. He was born April 14, 1931, in Merrill, Wisconsin, the son of Elmer and Alma Severson Eggers. He married Geneva Holen on January 13, 1962, in Madison, Wisconsin. He was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a law degree.

Larry was a partner in the law firm of Hansen-Eggers-Berres and Kelley until his illness in 1998. He was a charter member of Calvary Lutheran Church and served in many capacities within the church. He was an Eagle Scout, member of the Rotary Club, Kappa Sigma Fraternity, Beloit-Janesville Svmphony Orchestra Board of Directors, Beloit-Janesville and Wisconsin bar associations, and past president of Beloit Regional Hospice Board of Directors. Survivors include his wife, Geneva; his son, Ted (Vicki) Eggers of South Beloit, Illinois; his daughters, Jane (Carlos) Sandoval of Grayslake, Illinois, and Kristin (Trent) Grady of Muskego, Wisconsin; three grandsons, Zachary Eggers, Samuel Sandoval and Andrew Grady; a brother, Allan (Betty) Eggers of Louisville, Kentucky; and their children, Steve (Kathie) Eggers, Lori Suter and Andy (Julie) Eggers; and numerous other loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents.

She was born in Omaha, Nebraska, on March 8, 1906, the daughter of Louis and Grace (Eichberg) Rei-chenberg. On September 9, 1929, she married Mark Goldberg and moved to Madison, where she has been an active member of the community ever since. Bea and Mark were charter members of Beth El Temple, where she served as president of the Temple Sisterhood. Bea and Mark were also instrumental in the formation of the Madison Jewish Community Council. She served as an officer of the local chapters of Hadassah, B'nai B'rith Women and the National Council of Jewish Women.

She was active in the Madison Chapter of the American Red Cross, the League of Women Voters and the Madison Civic Music Association. She was also very active in the Wisconsin Progressive Party. Bea attended Mount Holyoke College, Ohio State University and the University of Wisconsin. She loved books, music, travel, history and the arts. She enjoyed giving to help others, and above all, she loved life and the world she lived in.
