The last several years were they best of his life. He enjoyed cooking (he was quite an amateur chef), landscaping and gardening with his oldest brother and father at his father's home, walking for exercise, and watching NFL football. He eagerly anticipated celebrating his mother's birthday and watching Sunday Packers games with his folks and brother. Gary was a kind, gentle, honest, generous (he'd give you the shirt off his back kind of guy) and timid soul. His kindness and concern in visits with his older brother during some of his brother's long-term illnesses were extremely helpful to his brother, Randy.

He assisted his brother with a new computer and helped him with retraining education. Gary leaves a huge emptiness in his close family. Survivors include his mother and father, Darlene (Dary) Olson and Arthur LeRoy Olson of Madison; his twin sister, Sherry Lentz of Fort Atkinson; his brother, Gregory Carl Olson of Fitchburg; and his brother, Randall Lee Olson of Madison.
