Knickmeier, Irene M. (Severson) Flick MADISON Irene M. (Severson) Flick Knickmeier, age 88 of Madison, died on Sunday, May 17, 1992 at a local hospital. She was born on January 19, 1904 in Mineota, Minnesota, and has lived in Madison since 1919. She had graduated from the Mount Horeb High School.

Mrs. Knickmeler had worked as an engraver and printer for Lettercraft Press for 30 years and also had worked for the E.Z. Gregory Company for 18 years retiring in 1969. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Beverly Jean Hanaway of Madison; three grandchildren, John and Scott Hanaway and Julie Hanaway (Jim) Ott; and a greatgrandson, Jacob Ott; a sister, Mrs. Hazel (Harvey) Kimbel of Racine; and a brother, Malcolm B. Severson of Sun Prairie. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Ivan Flick; and her second husband, Ray Knickmeier; and also seven brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at THE GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 1992 with Reverend Gilbert Splett officiating. Burial will be in the Blooming Grove Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:30 until 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 19, 1992 at the funeral home.

Kohl, Laverne M. MCFARLAND Laverne M. Kohl, age 73, died on Monday, May 18, 1992 at her home. She was the former Laverne Jehn, born in Glidden, WI on October 29, 1918, the daughter of William and Frances (Helderer) Jehn. She married Robert E.

Kohl on December 27, 1947 and formerly was employed by the Miles Laboratories in Madison. She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church, McFarland. She was a member and past president of Its Ladies Guild, a member and past president of the East Dane Deanery Women's Group, and a member and past president of the McFarland Lioness Club. She was very active in McFarland community activities and with the McFarland Schools as a volunteer. Surviving his her husband, Robert; five children, William Jehn (Patrice) Kohl of Lugoff, SC, Thomas John (Mona) Kohl of Fort Atkinson, Frances Lucille Kohl (Ron) Reis of Woodbine, MD, Timothy James (Margaret) Kohl of Middleton, and Eugene Robert Kohl "Hoot" of Milwaukee, WI; nine grandchildren, Jeffrey Christopher Kohl, Alyson Jean Kohl, Joel Thomas Kohl, Jamie Beth Kohl, Jesse David Kohl, Adam Kohl Reis, Sarah Yungin Reis, Joshua James Kohl, and Benjamin Lawrence Kohl; two sisters, Loretta M.

Jehn of Butternut, WI and Eileen (Jerry) Vandecastle of Green Bay, WI; and a brother, John H. (Bonnie) Jehn "Booper" of Park Falls. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday evening, May 20, 1992 at 7:30 p.m. at CHRIST THE KING CATHOLIC CHURCH with Father Arthur Koth officiating. Visitation only at the church on Wednesday from 3:30 p.m.

until 7:15 p.m. with the mass to follow. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park on Thursday. Oison-Holzhuter Funeral Home McFarland Lepeska, Joseph Raymond STITZER Joseph Raymond Lepeska, age 83, died on Sunday morning, May 17, 1992, at the Fennimore Good Samaritan Center.

He was born on December 23, 1908 at the farm home of his parents, Matthew and Frances (Winters) Lepeska. He attended Ebenezer rural grade school and St. Mary's Catholic School in Fennimore. He graduated from Montfort High School and attended Platteville and Milwaukee State Teachers Colleges as well as Marquette University. He then returned the family farm.

On October 16, 1943, he married Dorothy Dorszynski at St. Thomas Aquinas Church in Milwaukee. They had six children; the youngest, David, was killed in a car accident in 1979. Surviving are his wife and five children: Allyn, (Ellen Fitzsimmons) of Madison, James (Linda) of Montfort, Mary Frances (Patrick Tearney) of Port Washington, Jane Grinde (Jon) of Madison, and Elizabeth Bittner (Mark) of Manitowoc. There are 14 grandchildren.

He is also survived by two sisters, Erma Prochaska of Montfort, and Verna Trenary of rural Platteville. He was preceded in death by his parents, and two brothers, Ervin and Fred. For many years he had ushered at St. Thomas Church in Montfort. He served as a delegate for REA, ADA and the dairy coops, PMPC and AMPI.

He had a great love for children, animals, travel and dancing. He was an accomplished wood worker and had made many pieces of furniture. Services will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 1992, at 11:00 a.m., at ST. THOMAS CHURCH, Montfort, with burial in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m.

Liv SUN PRAIRIE Mrs. Liv Olson, age 87, of 605 Chase died on Sunday, May 17, 1992, in a Madison hospital. She was born in New York City on July 24, 1904. On June 8, 1929, she married the Reverend Walter A. Olson in Ossian, Iowa.

Before her marriage, she was an elementary school teacher. She served with her husband in parishes located in Ashby, Minnesota; Superior, Wisconsin; Muskegon, Michigan; Des Moines, lowa; and Rhinelander, Wisconsin. In 1987, they moved to Sun Prairie. She was a member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Sun Prairie. She is survived by her husband, Reverend Walter A.

Olson; three children, Reverend Rolf (Trudy) Olson of DeForest, Marie E. Lee of Stowe, Vermont, and Paul J. (Mary) Olson of Boulder, Colorado; sixteen grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Sigrid Mahaffy of Austin, Texas. She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Thora Kvamme; and two brothers, Rolf Kvamme, and T.

O. Kvamme. Funeral services will be held at OUR SAVIOR'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 550 Lincoln Drive, Sun Prairie, at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 1992. Reverend Robert Matthias and Reverend Jeff Martinson will officiate.

Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery in Decorah, lowa. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m. until the time of services at the church on Thursday, May 21, 1992. Cress Funeral Home 1310 Emerald Terrace Sun Prairie Olson, Chester George MADISON Chester George Olson died after a brief illness on Saturday, May 16, 1992.

He was born on February 4, 1909, in Park Ridge, Illinois. He graduated from Waunakee High School In 1929, and attended Northland College in Ashland, Wisconsin. He married Katherine Parkin Nutting on May 9, 1936, in Nashua, lowa in the Little Brown Church. He is survived by two sons, Keith (Lilly) of Forest Lake, Minnesota, Donald (Bonnie) of Blaine, Minnesota; three daughters, Judy (Wayne) Dreger Oregon, Susan (Larry) Stewart of Pittman, New Jersey, and Bonnie (John) Browning of McFarland; eleven grandchildren; a sister, Myra Olson of Madison; a great-grandson; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, and grandnephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine; and a sister, Helen Helgeson.

Funeral services will be held at the GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 1992. Charles Thain will officiate. Burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Friends may call from 6:00 p.m.

until 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 1992, at the GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Wisconsin State Journal, Tuesday, May 19, 1992 Anderson, Cecil MONONA Cecil Anderson, age 86, of Monona, died on Saturday, May 16, 1992, at St. Mary's Hospital after a short iliness. He was married to the former Esther Nimmow for 65 years and was an active charter member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church of Monona.

He was employed with various construction companies in the Madison area. He is survived by his wife, Esther; a son, Donald, of Louisville, KY; a daughter, Caryl Johnsrud, of Madison; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at ST. STEPHEN'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5700 Pheasant Hill Monona, at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 1992, with the Rev.

Berkvam, Edna Edna Berkvam, age 92, formerly of Rio, died on Saturday, May 16, 1992, at the Columbia County Nursing Home in Wyocena, Wisconsin. She was born on December 12, 1899, in Columbus, Wisconsin, the daughter of Tom and Mary (McCann) Cowley. She was married to Earl Berkvam on June 22, 1929, in California.

They lived in Rio for 16 years after previously living in Madison. They then lived in Portage for three years before residing at the Columbia County Nursing Home in Wyocena. Edna was a teacher for many years. She was a member of the Eastern Star in Rio and the Union Congregational Church in Rio. She was preceded in death by both parents; and her husband, Earl who died on February 26, 1985.

She is survived by a sister, Theresa Jones of Tennessee; and many nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 1992 at 11:00 a.m. at the VANGEN FUNERAL HOME in Rio, with Reverend Keith Epps officiating. Burial will follow in the Ohio Cemetery in Rio. until time of service at the funeral home. Vangen Funeral Home Rio, Wisconsin Brechler, Gertrude C. BOSCOBEL Gertrude C. Brechler, age 85, of Boscobel, passed away on Sunday, May 17, 1992, at Lutheran Hospital in LaCrosse. She was born February 6, 1907, in Ft.

Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Leonard and Caroline (Wetter) Lenz. She married Carol Payne, January 15, 1924. He preceded her in death on March 17, 1963. She Athen, married Harry Brechler on 22, 1969, in Lancaster, Wisconsin. Surviving are her husband, Harry of Boscobel; a son, Duane (Phyllis) Payne of Bemidji, Minnesota; two daughters, Marian (Kenneth) Harris of Cobb and Elaine (Wayne 'Bud') Yonker of Boscobel; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs.

Margaret Schmidt of Wauzeka. She was preceded in death by a son, Keith; five brothers; and a sister. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 1992, at 11:00 a.m. at the THONI AND KENDALL FUNERAL HOME in Boscobel with Pastor Robert Gossett officiating with burial in the Boscobel Cemetery. at the Thoni and Kendall Funeral Home in Boscobel. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials may be made to the Boscobel Rescue Squad. Galoff, Carl L. MENOMONIE Carl L. Galoff, age 85, formerly of Madison, died May 11, 1992, at the Dunn County Health Care Center in Menomonie.

He was born October 21, 1906, in Menomonie to Ferdinand and Antonia (Piper) Galoff. He was a 1924 graduate of Menomomie High School and 1929 graduate of Stout Institute. He served in the U.S. Army in the South Pacific during WWII. He married Ethel Michelbook on October 22, 1946, in Menomonie.

He worked for the Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles in Madison for 35 years. He was an active member of the Mount Olive Lutheran Church in Madison and a member of the Marion C. Cranefield Post of the VFW in Madison. He is survived by his wife, Ethel, of Menomonie; a sister, Aleta (Maurice) Caturia of Knapp; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and one brother.

Memorial services will be held Friday, May 22, at 1:00 p.m. at FAITH LUTHERAN CHURCH in Menomonie. The GOODRICH FUNERAL HOME is handling arrangements. Heim, Loretta OCONOMOWOC Loretta Heim, age 97, of Oconomowoc, died on Sunday, May 17, 1992, at Shorehaven Health Center in Oconomowoc. She was born on November 2, 1894, in West Bend, Wisconsin, to Joseph Dobner and Margaret Marx.

She was married to John Heim, on November 29, 1917, in Milwaukee. He preceded her in death in January of 1986. Mrs. Heim was a homemaker. She was a member of St.

Joan of Arc Catholic Church, St. Joan of Arc Christian Women, 3rd Order of St. Francis in Milwaukee, Delafield 500 Card Club, Delafield Golden Agers, and Milwaukee Mission Sewing Club. Survivors include her children, Genevieve (Ralph) Thompson of Sullivan, Margarete (Elmer) Zellner of Delafield, Ruth (Gordon) Prestby Milwaukee, John R. (Bernadette) of Middleton, Wisconsin, Richard (Audrey) of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Raymond (Betty) of Delafield; 31 grandchildren; 64 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son; two brothers; and four sisters. Funeral services will be on Thursday, May 21, 1992, at 10:30 a.m. at ST. JOAN OF ARC CATHOLIC CHURCH in Okauchee, with Monsignor John Murphy officiating. Burial will be in Holy Cross Cemetery in Milwaukee.

EAU CLAIRE Geraldine N. Heimstead, age 83, of 1802 Necessity Eau Claire, died on Sunday, May 17, 1992 at the M. B. Syverson Lutheran Home. Geraldine was born on October 22, 1908 to William and Helen (Johnson) Higley in Eau Claire.

She married Glenn S. Heimstead on June 10, 1925 in Eau Claire. She was a member of Plymouth United Church of Christ, Busy Hands Circle, Happy Hour, Christian Women, the Eau Claire Chapter Order of the Eastern Star, and the Royal Neighbors. Survivors include two sisters, Beatrice Roe, John F. MADISON John F.

Roe, age 83, died Sunday, 17, 1992, in Franklin, North Carolina. Arrangments and memorial pending. Schaub, Frances C. MADISON Mrs. Frances Catherine Sullivan Schaub, age 65, of Madison, died on Sunday, May 17, 1992, after a lengthy and courageous battle with cancer.

She was born Frances Catherine Sullivan on June 23, 1926, in Madison, Wisconsin, the daughter of Leonard Sullivan and Madalyn "Sully" Sullivan Gallagher. Fran graduated from Edgewood High School, and for the past 30 years she was employed by Coyle, Inc. as Treasurer. Upon preparing for retirement, Fran started her new career as Blarney the Clown. Fran was a lifelong member of St.

James Catholic Church. She brought the meaning of God's love to those around her. She was a kind and caring lady who only saw the good in others. She truly warmed the hearts of everyone she met. We are grateful and blessed for having the opportunity to share in her lIfe.

She will be missed by all, but never forgotten. She is survived by four children, John R. (Jean) Schaub of Jackson, Michigan, Janice V. Schaub of Beloit, James W. (Rita) Schaub of Morris, Illnois, and JaNelle A.

(John) Stransky of McFarland; two brothers, James P. (Maybelle) Sullivan of Madison, and John L. (Patty) Sullivan of Scottsdale, Arizona; seven grandchildren, Jennifer, Karen, Sara, Matt, and Katie Schaub, Carleen, and Jayna Stransky; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald R. Schaub; a daughter, Jennifer; her brother, Ed Sullivan; two sisters, Margaret Neesvig Starry, and Mary Reilly; and a granddaughter, Julle.

Smecko, age 43, of McFarland, died unexpectedly on Saturday, May 16, 1992, at a Madison hospital due to natural causes not yet determined. He was born on March 30, 1949, in Madison. He graduated from Monona Grove High School In 1967, where he excelled in football, receiving All Conference Honors. He graduated from MATC with an Associate Degree. Joe married the former Rita Sliwicki on February 26, 1983, In Madison.

He worked at Research Products for 23 years, starting as a design engineer and later as a Safety Director. The outdoors brought his life great pleasure. He loved fishing and hunting with his family and friends. He is survived by his wife, Rita of McFarland; his daughter, Amie of California; his parents, Joseph and Margaret of Monona; three brothers, James (Marcia), John, and Jeffrey (Jean), all of Monona; a sister, Jeanne (Daniel) Jones of McFarland; a great uncle and godfather, Herman Smecko of California; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and friends who loved him and will miss him dearly. A Funeral Mass will be held at CHRIST THE KING CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5306 Main Street, McFarland, at 10:00 a.m.

Taylor, age 91, died on Monday, May 18, 1992, at Maplewood Nursing Home in Sauk City. She was born in Arena, Wisconsin, on March 14, 1901, the daughter of the late John and Rose (Wilson) Morrill. She was united in marriage to Harvey on January 2, 1922. He preceded her death in 1966. Mrs.

Taylor taught school at the Fairchild School in Roxbury and farmed in Roxbury for many years with her husband. She was a member of the First United Church of in Sauk City. and Aurella (Baker) Wells. He was a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Survivors include five sons, Charles (Debbie) R. Wells of Japan, Nicky F. (Marie) Wells of Ohio, James J.

Wells (Patricia) of Madison, Russell D. Wells of Huntington Beach, CA, and Floyd E. (Kyral) Wells of Madison; a daughter, Dorothy (Jimmy) Carey-Ruff of Madison; a brother, Charles Wells of Madison; three sisters, Cornelia Elaine Lucas of Chicago, Yvonne Allen and Lucheia Blue, both of Madison; his former wife, Emma Jean Wells; and several grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20, 1992 in the FITCH-LAWRENCE SAN FILLIPPO FUNERAL HOME located at 6021 University Madison.

The Reverend James C. Wright will officiate. Burial will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday morning in the Forest HIll Cemetery with military honors provided by the Madison Veteran's Council. Friends may call at the funeral home for visitation on Thursday evening from 6:00 p.m.

Zuehlke, age 43, died on Sunday, May 17, 1992 in Madison after suffering with bouts of depression for the past fifteen years.

Survivors include his wife, Jane; four sons, John, Scott, Patrick, and Jay; his mother and step-father, Virginia and Donald Ault of Reedsburg; his father, Sherman Zuehlke of Minneapolis, MN; a sister, Terri Brooks of New York; three brothers, Russell (Mary) of Madison, Donald (Marianne) of Shawno, and William of Minneapolis, MN; his father and mother-In-law, William and Evalyn Zimmerman of Reedsburg; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday at ST. JOHN LUTHERAN CHURCH in Reedsburg. The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m.

until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the HAMMER-HOOF FUNERAL HOME, Reedsburg. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the children's educational fund would be appreciated..
