Mary's Hospital In Madison. She was born In Chicago, Illinois on October 26, 1909. She made her home at Lake Villa, Illinois for 26 years, and retired to Madison, Wisconsin. She was a member of the Czechoslovak Society of America, and the Woodrow Wilson Lodge. She leaves her husband of 54 years, Edward; two sons, Edward (Donna) of New Fairfield, Connecticut, and Richard (Mary) of Madison; three grandchildren, James, Krlsta, and Lara; a sister, Blanche Bennett; and a brother, George Sebela.

Funeral services will be offered at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 15, 1991 at the STRANG FUNERAL CHAPEL, 410 East Belvldere Road In Grayslake, Illinois. She was married on June 26, 1926, to Hubert S. Staude in the Im-manuel Lutheran Church In Farming-ton. Her husband preceded her in death on September 6, 1991. She was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Farmlngton, and a member and former secretary of the Lady's Aid Society. She was also a member of the Lakeside Lutheran High School Guild, and of the Johnson Creek American Legion Auxiliary.

She Is survived by three daughter, Mrs. Naomi Metzker of Madison, Mrs. David (Carol) Lers of West Allls, and Mrs. Jean Schwankl of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a son, David (Carol) of Johnson Creek; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. She was preceded In death by a granddaughter, Taml Staude; and a sister, Lilly Albee.

(Mrs. W.J.) MADISONVERONA Laura A. Hefty, age 85, died on Friday, October 11, 1991 at the Four Winds Manor in Verona after an extended illness. She was born January 16, 1906 In San Juan, Puerto Rico, the daughter of Frank Fuller Harding and Luclle (King) Harding. Both the Harding and King families were well known Hudson, Wisconsin pioneer families.

Laura was schooled In San Juan until she came to attend the University of Wisconsin In Madison. She met her husband, Wllbert J. "Jay" Hefty of New Glarus when both were University students. They were married on May 3, 1927 and their marriage was blessed with two children, a son, Frank J. and a daughter Jo Ann.

She was preceded In death by her husband In 1938. After his death she was employed by the John C. Haley Sons Insurance Firm of Madison, retiring In 1970. She was also a member of Grace Episcopal Church since 1923. Survivors Include two sisters, Mrs.

Eliza (William) Moreton of San Juan and Luclle (Thomas) Blair of Eatontown, New Jersey; a sister-in-law, Barbara (Walter) Freitag of Monroe; among other survivors are several nieces; and nephews; and her close friends, Blaine and Florence Sachtjen of Middleton. In addition to her husband, she was preceded In death by her parents; her daughter, Jo Ann Carnes In 1969; and her son, Frank In 1971. "Tobe" Humbert, age 88, of Mineral Point, died on Saturday, October 12, 1991, at the Mineral Point Living Center after a short Illness. He was born In Waldwlck Township on April 3, 1903, the son of Walter and Mattle (Harker) Humbert.

He attended rural school In Waldwlck and business college In Long Beach, California. He married the former Blanche Terrill on July 6, 1925. He was a lifelong Mineral Point resident, and owned and operated the Mineral Point Meat Market for 41 years until he retired. He was a former member of the Mineral Point Fire Department, and was a member and past president of the Mineral Point School Board. He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Farmers Savings Bank in Mineral Point at the time of his death.

He was also a member of the Mineral Point Conservation Club, the Mineral Point Historical Society, and was an advisory board member of the Mineral Point Living Center. He Is survived by his wife; a daughter, Mary Margaret (John) Shea of St. Petersburg, Florida; a son, Jack of Kalamazoo, Michigan; four grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded In death by three brothers, Clarence, Paul, and Clyde. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.

Agnew, Elizabeth J. FOOTVILLEJANESVILLE Elizabeth J. Agnew, age 86, of North Footvllle Road, Rte. 4, Janesville, died on Saturday, October 12, 1991, at Mercy Hospital In Janesville. She was born In Woodman, Wisconsin, on November 7, 1904, the daughter of Julius C.

and Elizabeth (Martin) Budack. She attended schools In Woodman and Boscobel, Wisconsin, and graduated from Fennlmore High School In 1922. She was united in marriage to Charles Agnew on November 25, 1932, in the Fennlmore Lutheran Church. Most of her life was spent as a talented homemaker, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, Eastern Star, and the American Legion Auxiliary, all in Footvllle, Wisconsin.

She is survived by her husband; a daughter, Charter (Wayne) Flury of Footvllle; two granddaughters, Lorl Flury of New London, Wisconsin, and Jennifer Flury of Janesville; a sister, Leola Budack of Boscobel; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; four sisters; three brothers. Burial will be In the Milton Junction Cemetery. Ahrends, Sarah A. LANCASTER Sarah A. Ahrends, age 90, of Lancaster, died on Saturday evening, October 12, 1991, at the Lancaster Living Center. She was born on February 1, 1901, In South Deerfleld, Massachusetts, the daughter of Edward Honara Murphy.

She received her education at the South Deerfleld Academy, and later graduated from the Farren Memorial Hospital School of Nursing In Greenfield, Massachusetts. She married Albert Ahrends on February 9, 1931, and they farmed at Glen Haven until 1956 when Mr. Ahrends retired and they moved Into Lancaster. She worked as a Registered Nurse at the Lancaster Living Center, and at the former Grant County Home until her retirement. She was a former member of St.

Mary's Catholic Church In Glen Haven, as well as a member of St. Clement Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America -Court of St. Rita 670. She Is survived by a son-in-law, Greg Junk of Ames, Iowa; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Albert, who died on January 23, 1979; a son; two daughters; four brothers; and eight sisters.
