4, SECTION 3 WISCONSIN STATE JOURNAL, MONDAY, OCTOBER 1, 1979 Rock's vulgarity bothers reader Dear Ann: I attended a conference recently and had my eyes opened. The subject under discussion was rock and roll music. Most parents have no idea what rock music is all about because they pay no attention to it. If they listened to the lyrics they'd be shocked. For example, "Get Down and Make Love" tells a story of homosexual love.

Another, "Cold Ethy!" by Alice Cooper, is an incredibly vulgar song celebrating sexual perversion. "Wild Love" by Frank Zappa is a thoroughly offensive number. The words to "Some Girls" (Rolling Stones) could not be printed in a family newspaper. Acceptance of marital infidelity is the theme of many rock songs. "Part Time Love," written by Elton John and Gary Osborne, has Elton John singing: "You've been seen running around.

Don't tell me what to do when you've been doing it, too. Everybody's got a part time love." (Copyright 1979 by Big Pig Music, Ltd.) Is it any wonder there is so much teen-age sex, promiscuity, pregnancy outside of wedlock and couples living Cartload By Ann Landers together without marriage? When young people hear this trash for hours on end, they accept it as the ordinary, everyday way of life. I urge every parent to turn on the radio and pay close attention to the words of the songs. The next step is write to local radio station and tell the manager exactly what you think of the programming. If no one complains, the stations have every right to assume it's perfectly OK, and there will be no end to it.

Thanks for letting me have my say. Want A Better Environment For Youth. Tracking By Jeanne Avery Your birthday today: Fantastic partnership arrangements can turn things around this year.

Taurus (April 21-May 21): Extra benefits make many things possible now. Friends who have been helpful can realize your appreciation. Avoid overextension with expenditures. It appears that all systems are set on go. Gemini (May 22-June 21): Romance lead to partnership.

Some matters must be kept quiet until later on, as you could spoil things by premature revelation. Creative projects can make dreams come true. Cancer (June 22-July 23): Take a vacation break with friends this week. Some refreshing change of scene can do a world of good to restore your perspective. You can explore new territory with vacation home in mind.

24-Sept. 23): Happy hoping someone would write about. I've been hearing about the filthy rock and roll lyrics for a long time and decided to tune in and listen. Twentythree years of this column have made me virtually shock-proof, but some of the lyrics were incredibly crude and offensive. I support your suggestion that parents tune in and listen to what their children are hearing hour after hour.

If they don't approve, they should write to the local station and complain. Dear Ann: I was furious at the reader who said you should be horsewhipped for telling a 17-year-old girl to have plastic surgery on her nose. She said it was ruining her life and wanted your opinion. You OK'd "anything that might improve your looks." For years I wore glasses with lenses that looked like Coke bottles. I was nearly blind without them.

They were heavy. They pinched. They slid down on my nose. I had no peripheral vision. My eyesight was getting progressively worse.

My doctor recommended contact lenses. No more Coke bottles. No more pinching. No more sliding. No more blind spots where the glasses weren't.

Most important of all, my vision stabilized. Engagements announced Kieler-Donisi CUBA CITY Mr. and Mrs. Martin Kieler, Route 1, announce the engagement of their daughter, Debra Ann, to David Dean Donisi, son of Mr. and Mrs.
