Fleming, age 86, of -Muscoda, died on Friday, August 24, 1990, in the Richland Center Hospital. He was born April 5, 1904, in rural Muscoda. He was the son of Henry and Anna (Lange) Fleming. He was married to Ruth B. Ludemann on December 28, 1933, in Kesley, Iowa.

He was a lifelong Muscoda resident. He served as chief of police of Muscoda and as a deputy for the Grant County Sheriff's Department. He owned and operated the Muscoda Milling Company for many years, starting it in 1942. He also sold John Deere farm implements. He owned and operated an indoor roller skating ring.

He was a member of the United Presbyterian Church and he served as an Elder for 57 years. He also served as president of the Muscoda Cemetery Association for 31 years and he escorted many funerals in the Muscoda area. He is survived by his wife, Ruth B. Fleming of Muscoda; a sister, Eva Harms of Muscoda; several nieces; nephews; and cousins; and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Marvin; and a sister, Florence Payas.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, at 11:00 a.m. in the UNITED PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH. Reverend David J. Hankins will officiate. Burial will be in the Muscoda Cemetery.

Visitation will be at the GODAGER FUNERAL HOME on Sunday, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the United Presbyterian Church of Muscoda. Johnson, Marjorie S. MADISON Marjorie S.

Johnson, age 92, formerly of 540 W. Olin died on Friday, August 24, 1990, at St. Mary's Care Center. She was born on August 18, 1898, in Ridgefield Park, New Jersey, to Charles Henry and Emily Manning Sedgwick. She was married to Milton Johnson of Washington Island, Wisconsin, on June 17, 1920, in Hackensack, New Jersey; they lived in South Bend, Indiana and Chicago, Illinois before moving to Madison in 1933.

She worked on the polio floor at Wisconsin General Hospital during WW II. She was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church, and the Martha Circle, past president of the Ladies Aid, and past president of the Romnes Association. Survivors include four sons, Milton of Madison, Richard (Barbara) of Alta Loma, California, Thomas (Helen) of Chula Vista, California, James (Jeanette) of Madison; two daughters, Marlorie (Norman) Pettey of Monona, Patricia (Carl) Moe of Newton, Iowa; a sister, Emily S. Brown of Milford, Delaware; 25 grandchildren; and 30 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton, on August 13, 1966; a daughter, Carol Storrs on April 11, 1974; a grandson, Gary Johnson on April 30, 1969; a daughter-in-law, Phyllis Maso Johnson on August 9, 1978; also her parents; and a sister, Ada S. Sweeney; and a brother, Charles Sedgwick. Funeral services will be held at ST. MARK'S LUTHERAN CHURCH, 605 Spruce at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 27, 1990, with The Reverend Gerald Anderson officiating.

Knapp, James MADISON James Knapp, age 70, of Madison, died on Friday, August 24, 1990, at a Madison hospital. Arrangements are pending at the GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr. Tallard, Edwin LARGO, FLORIDAMADISON Edwin C. Tallard, age 70, died on Thursday, August 23, 1990, at a hospital in Largo, Florida, after a short illness. He was born on March 1, 1920, in the Bronx, New York, to Roy and Mildred (Clapp) Tallard.

Ed worked for many years as a tool and die maker for Gisholt Machine and also worked at Carnes Incorporated in Verona for many years. He was an Army veteran of WW He is survived by his second wife, Millie; three sons, Terry (Donna) of Dodgeville, Gary (Barb) of Belvidere, Illinois, Steven (Annette) of Waunakee; two daughters, Pamela Tallard of Madison, Christine (Bruce) Cann of Mt. Horeb; and seven grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Blanche. Memorial services will be held on Monday, August 27, at 7:00 p.m.

There will be visitation from 5:00 p.m. until service time on Monday, August 27; Wentland, Edward DEERFIELD Edward Wentland, age 59, of 15 North Street, Deerfield, died on Friday, August 24, 1990, in a Madison hospital following a brief illness. Edward was born on August 13, 1931, at Deerfield, a son of the late Albert and Evelyn (Engelke) Wentland. He was employed for the past 26 years at Crepaco Company In Lake Mills.

He was a member of St. Pius Catholic Church, Cambridge. He was married in 1961 to the former Delores Hajec of Deerfield. Edward was an' avid hunter and fisherman. Survivors include two daughters, Dianne Wentland of Madison, and Suzanne (Dan) Netzel of Madison; a son, Fred- "The Quiet World Borreau, Heather Renee STOUGHTON Heather R.

Barreau of Stoughton, died on Friday, August 24, 1990. Heather was born on May 4, 1990, the daughter of Michael Steven and Lorie J. Kenseth-Barreau. Funeral services will be held at the GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, August 27.

SAUK CITY Marcus A. Beck, age 79, died on Friday, August 24, 1990, at the Sauk Prairie Hospital. He was born in Plain, on June 4, 1911, the son of the late Alois and Mary (Brechtl) Beck. Marcus grew up in the Plain area and worked as a cheesemaker in Plain and Irish Valley. He later lived in Genoa and worked in La Crosse.

He retired to Sauk City in 1976. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Sauk City. Survivors include a sister, Marie Hollfelder of Madison; a brother, Walter (Violet) Beck of Genoa; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Funeral services will be held at GNEWIKOW -HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City, at 10:30 a.m.

and at ST. ALOYSIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, with Father Gary Krahenbuhl officiating. Burial will be in St. Luke's Cemetery, in Plain.

Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 27, at the funeral home, where a scripture service will be held at 6:00 p.m. Brown, Robert D. MINERAL POINT Robert D. Brown, age 17, of Mineral Point, died unexpectedly on Thursday, August 23, 1990, in New Berlin, Wisconsin.

Robert was born on February 14, 1973 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, the son of William and Reta (Reber) Brown. He attended Mineral Point Elementary and Middle School and was presently a senior at Mineral Point High School. He was an active musician and he participated in numerous musical and dramatic organizations. At the time of his death he was touring with the "Kids from He is survived by his parents; a brother, Michael of UW-Madison; his maternal grandfather, Fred E. Reber of Sauk City; his paternal grandmother, Jean E.

Brown of Lodl; also numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Evangeline Reber; and his paternal grandfather, Paul A. Brown. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday.

August 27, 1990, at the MINERAL POINT HIGH SCHOOL Gymnasium. Interment will be in Graceland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 26, at the GORGEN FUNERAL HOME In Mineral Point. There will also be a visitation from 10:00 a.m.

until time of services on Monday at the Mineral Point Gymnasium. Memorials may be given to the Rob Brown Memorial Music Scholorship Fund. Rob was that rare kid who could touch the hearts of old and young alike. We will surely miss him. Coon, Howard B.

WISCONSIN DELLS Howard B. Coon, age 78, of rural Wisconsin Dells, died at Adams County Memorial Hospital on August 24, 1990, of a stroke. He was born in New Haven Township, Adams County, on July 16, 1912, to Edward B. and Marian (Bidwell) Coon. Howard married Hazel Marshall on May 30, 1931.

She preceded him in death on August 8, 1980. Howard was a local farmer; worked at Badger Ordinance; was self employed In trucking for 10 years; and worked in construction trades. Survivors include two sons, Marshall (Rita) of Friendship, Wisconsin, Edward (Joy) of Wisconsin Dells; two daughters, Patsy (Don) Goetsch of Kenosha, Wisconsin, Catherine (Tony) Deichl of Ft. Atkinson, Wisconsin; a sister, Hazel Lorenzen; and a friend, Inez Christen-sen, both of Wisconsin Dells; 13 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren. He was preceded In death by two brothers, Harold and Fay; a sister, Floy; and a daughter-in-law, Emily Coon.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 28, at the FEDDERLY FUNERAL HOME in Wisconsin Dells. Reverend Huebner will officiate. Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery. Friends may call on Monday, from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.

Survivors include his wife, Ethel; a son, Orlo (Thelma) of Wonewoc; two daughters, Gladys (Mrs. William) Geier of Hopkinsville, Kentucky, and Edith (Mrs. Wally) Ziesch of Sun Prairie; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Orln Degner of Necedah; two sisters, Ina Berndt of Wonewoc, and Laureen (Mrs. Albert) Dreischmeier of LaValle. Demro, Glenferd "Chic" PEMBINE Glenferd "Chic? Demro, formerly of Madison, age 85, died on Thursday, August 23, in Two Rivers, Wisconsin. Survivors ore his wife. Myrtle; three sons, Glenferd (Margaret) Ronald (Clara), and Howard (Phyllis); two daughters, Rosemary (Duane) Rossing, and Maryiane Klein; a brother. Garner (Mary); his two sisters, Mayme Woosencraft and Marie (John) Steckmesser; 27 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infont daughter; a grandson; a son-in-law; and a brother- church.

Howard was born on August 14, 1906, in Oregon, Wisconsin. Funeral arrangements are pending at the GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr. Salzwedel, Edwin H. DEERFIELD Edwin H. Salzwedel, age 87, of 408 South Main Street, Deerfield, died on Friday, August 24, 1990, at Willow Brook Nursing Home in Lake Mills, following an extended illness.

He was born on July 1, 1903, at Markesan, Wisconsin. He was married on May 14, 1934, to Jessie Allen of Armstrong, Iowa. They came to Deerfield In 1935 from Milwaukee to make their home. For 33 years prior to his retirement in 1969, Edwin was employed by the Deerfield Creamery, retiring as a supervisor. Edwin was always a great circus buff.

He was a member of the Circus Fans Club of America and, for ten years, he enjoyed the Milwaukee Circus Parade, where he participated as "Humpty He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. Edwin is survived by his wife, Jessie; a daughter, Marlon (Jerome) Behm of Waterloo; a granddaughter, Faye (Richard) Veith of Sun Prairie; a grandson, Douglas (Kristine) Behm of Waterloo; four great-grandchildren, Zachary Veith, Seth, Sarah, and Hannah Behm; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death bv his parents, Herman and Clara Salzwedel; and a sister, Vera Wright. Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 27, 1990, at 10:00 a.m. at IMMANUEL LUTHERAN CHURCH.

Olson-Holzhuter Funeral Home Deerfield Schulz, Gilbert W. SAUK CITY Gilbert W. Schulz, age 78, was called home to eternal rest, at his home on Friday, August 24, 1990. He was born on June 29, 1912, In the Township of Westfield. He was the son of the late Albert and Ida (Lopau) Schulz.

He married the former Mildred Miller on March 5, 1934, In Hillpoint. He worked for the old Sauk City Creamery for several years and retired from the Village of Sauk City after many years of service. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Prairie du Sac. He loved the country, farming and gardening.

He loins his parents and his brothers, George and Erwin. He leaves to mourn his wife, Mildred; a daughter, Janet (Leslie) Anderson of Sauk City; two sons, Wayne of Sauk City, and Keith (Sharon) of Prairie du Sac; six granddaughters. Sherry, Sheila and Shawn Anderson, Shanalee (Daniel) Carden, all of Sauk City, Brittany and Jessica Schulz of Bara-boo; two great-grandsons, Derek and Devin Carden; a great-granddaughter, Ja Tame Carden; two brothers, Maynard (Victoria) Schulz of Prairie du Sac and Edmund (Ruth) Schulz of Baraboo; a sister-in-law, Erma Schulz of Baraboo; two step-grandchildren, Michael and Shelly Adler of Sauk City; a step-great-grandchild, Courtney; a niece and two nephews; and many dear friends. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 1990, at 11:00 a.m. at the GRUBER-ELLESTAD-VAN DEVENTER FUNERAL HOME in Prairie du Sac, with" Pastor Eldor Fruehling officiating.

Graveside services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 27, 1990, at the HILLSIDE CEMETERY in Lancaster. There will be no visitation. Mahlke, Ernest J. MADISONMIDDLETON Ernest J. Mahlke, age 90, of 2414 Brentwood died on Friday, August 24, 1990, at a local nursing home. He was born on August 10, 1900, in Dane, Wisconsin. He was employed with the Burroughs Corporation for 37'j years.

He married the former Iris (Kennedy) on June 15, 1929, in Madison. Ernest was a member of the Middleton Community Church, the Middleton Masonic Lodge 180 and the United Commercial Travelers. He is survived by his wife. Iris; a son, Ernest of Laurens, New York; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Clara McKay and Linda Mahlke.

Funeral services will be held at the MIDDLETON COMMUNITY CHURCH, 6604 Elmwood Avenue, Middleton, at 10:30 a.m. on Monday, August 27, with Reverend Joanne Thomson officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens Cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. on Monday, until time of service at the church.

McFarlane, age 82, of Madison, Wisconsin died on Wednesday, August 22, 1990 in Portland, Oregon. She was born on June 1, 1908 in Chicago, Illinois to Charles and Rose Wernig. She married Robert W. McFarlane, of Janesville, Wisconsin and he preceded her in death on February 11, 1969. She was a homemak-er and a member of Saint Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church of Madison.

Survivors are two sons. Bob (Sharon) McFarlane of Milford, Michigan, and Dan (Joan) McFarlane of Stamford, Connecticut; two daughters, Barbara McFarlane of Madison, and Marge (Clark) Cole of Beaverton, Oregon; one brother, Ray (Martha) Wernig, of Akron, Ohio; and one sister, Elsie DiRienzo of Madison. She is also survived by six grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. CHIPPEWA FALLS Clara N. Nelson, age 79, formerly of 3919 Shawnee Pass, Madison, died on Friday, August 24, 1990, at the Chippewa Manor Nursing Home. She was born Clara Andersen, grew up in Chippewa Falls, graduated from Luther Hospital School of Nursing, Eau Claire. She married Everett Nelson on October 3, 1958, and resided in Madison from 1958 until moving to Chippewa Falls in 1981. Survivors include her husband; a step-son, Jeff (Mary) Nelson of Madison; a step-daughter, Aleta Murray-Clark of Menlo Park, California; a brother.

Earl Andersen of Jacksonville, Florida; and two step-grandchildren, Jesse and Jody Nelsen, both of Madison. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 28, 1990, at 1:00 p.m. at CHRIST LUTHERAN CHURCH, with burial In Forest Hill Cemetery, both in Chippewa Falls. Varley was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. He was a Navy Veteran of World War II; and retired from Wisconsin Life Insurance Co. in 1979, where he was a director of agency administration. Survivors Include his wife, the former Dorothy Gierald; two daughters, Mary (Richard) Sauer of Rhinelander, and Margaret (Bruce) Anderson of Madison; four grandchildren, Stephen Sauer of Rhinelander, Teresa Fuller, Christine Anderson, and Katherine Anderson, all of Madison; three brothers, George (VI) Varley, Paul (Cathy) Varley, and Vincent (Ruth) Varley, all of Pittsburgh; and three sisters, Margaret Varley, Nancy (Richard) O'Donnell, and Mary (Ken) Boehm, all of Pittsburgh.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marie and George Varley; and a sister, Rita McDonagh. Funeral services will be held at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Drive, at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 28, 1990. The Reverend James Doyle will officiate.

Susan was born on October 30, 1958, in Madison, the former Susan Trapino.

Jami was born on December 30, 1980, in Madison. Susan graduated from DeForest High School. Jami attended DeForest Elementary School. Susan was employed by Aratex Services Incorporated in Madison. They were members of St.

Albert the Great Catholic Church, Sun Prairie. Susan and Jami are survived bv a son and brother, Jason Kritz; Jami's father, Greg Kritz of Stoughton; mother and grandparents, June Trapino of Monona, Fred and Carol Kritz of McFarland. Susan was preceded in death by her father, Frank Trapino. Further survivors are grand and great-grandparents, Aurelia Kritz of Spring Green, Cleone Jensen of Lone Rock, and Alma Hogen of Madison; and numerous, aunts, uncles, sisters and brothers. Funeral service will be held at CHRIST THE KING CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5306 Main McFarland, at 10:30 a.m.
