Volz, Ernest 99 Town of Delton Smith, Arlene J. (Huset), 70 Lodi-Madison Wasson, Linda Wyckoff, 81 Seattle, Raymond preceded her in death on February 9, 1958. She later married Marx Disch who died in 1972. She was united in marriage to Harold Hill on March 5, 1974 and they resided in Florida and Michigan until moving to Mount Horeb. Mr.

Hill died in 1986. Hulda especially enjoyed her trips to Switzerland visiting her brother, his family, and playing cards. She was very devoted to her family. Hulda is survived by four daughters, Dolores (Palmer) Gehin of Belleville, Shirley (Jack) Williams of Fritch, Texas, Jeanette (Don) Curry of Ferryville, and Sharon (Neal) Keyser of McFarland; a son, Richard (Mary) Hefty of Madison; and four stepchildren, Kakie (Sy) Reynolds, Betty Ann Cole, Becky (DeWayne) Ruttan, and Harold Hill, all of Michigan. She is further survived by four grandchildren; eight greatgrandchildren; a number of step-grandchildren; and a special friend, Henry Hanneman of Mount Horeb.

Hulda was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Walter; and. two grandchildren, Ricky Williams and Jo Lynn (Williams) Schilling. Hulda was a member of the Mt. Horeb Evangelical Lutheran Church, Christian Women, Senior Citizens, Church Bible Studies, and G.U.G.G. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 1998 at 11:00 a.m.

at the MOUNT HOREB EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH. Visitation will be at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services. Reverend Mark Gulbrand will officiate. Interment will be in the Swiss Church Cemetery in New Glarus.

The ELLESTAD FUNERAL HOME of Mt. Horeb, is serving the family. Hoppmann, Judith P. MONONA Judith P. Hoppmann, age 56, of Monona, died on Monday, January 26, 1998.

Funeral arrangements are pending with the GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Dr. Johnson, Gilmon R. POYNETTE Gilmon R. Johnson passed away on Monday, January 26, 1998 at Pioneer Place II in Poy-nette, at the age of 87. He was employed at Del Monte Corporation in Arlington until his retirement in 1989.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Beverly in 1990. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 1998 at DEKORRA LUTHERAN CHURCH in rural Poynette. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery in Aurora, Iowa. HAMRE FUNERAL HOME Lodi Karlovich, Andrew Ray MADISONAVATERTOWN Andrew Ray Karlovich, 3 day old infant son of Wayne and Wendy (Luther) Karlovich, died on Sunday, January 25, 1998, at St.

Mary's Hospital in Madison. He was born in Watertown on January 22, 1998. Andrew is survived by his loving parents, mentioned above; his sister, Catherine, also of Watertown; maternal grandmother, Karen Luther; paternal grandparents, Ray and Hilda Karlovich; maternal great-grandmother, Vivian Schmidt; and paternal great-grandparents, Eleanor Karlovich and Hilda Reid-inger. He is further survived by his uncles, Brian (Mary Lou) Karlovich, and David (Suzy) Karlovich; and his cousins. Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m.

on Wednesday, January 28, 1998, at the CRESS FUNERAL HOME, 3610 Speedway Road, Madison. The Reverend Joseph P. Higgins will officiate. Visitation will De at the funeral home on Wednesday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Interment will follow at Resurrection Ceme-tery. Lajoie, Larry A. Agriculture Office as a field agent for 35 years and then in the office in Madison for 11 more years. He was also on the Presbyterian Church Board session for six years. Milo is survived by his wife, Harriet; his daughter, Suzanne, and son-in-law (best friend) John Sever-son; two brothers, Lloyd (Daphne) Schneider and Stanley (Eileen) Schneider; four nephews; and five nieces.

He was preceded in death by his son, Eugene; his parents, Harold and Frieda (Schumann) Schneider; and his sister, Vivian (Schneider) Ouam. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 1998, at FIRST PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 172 N. Main Oregon. Reverend Clara Thompson will officiate.

Friends may call from 6:00 p.m.' until 9:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday at the church. The family suggests that memorials may be directed to the family for a memorial fund to be decided upon at a later date. Being the fisherman Milo was, here is a poem especially for him.

Stoughton 873-9244 Schwersinske, Etta Mae 1 MADISON Etta Mae age 81, went home to be with the Lord on January 23, 1998, at a local hospital. She was born on May 12v 1916, in Dodgeville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Burt, and Geneva (Hoskins) Beecher. Etta was a 63 year resident of Madison. She was married to Elvin Schwersinske who preceded her in death in 1972. Etta was the owner and operator of Al's Modern Sewer Service, which was Ereviously owned by her first husband, Richard L.

Kerns. She was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church. She is survived by eight children, Brandford (Vivian) Kerns of Fitchburg, Jeannette Lewison of Madison, Neva Prey of Madiso. Bonnie Rodenschmit of Madisoaj, Virginia (John) VanderLeest of Green Bay, MaryAnn (Bill) Graves of Caledonia, Tony Schwersinske of Madison, and Tom Schwersinske of Madison; a brother, Doug (Isabella) Beecher of Madison; a sister, Idolla Schwersinske of San Antoni4 Texas; 24 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. She was proceeded in death by her parents; her husbands; two brothers, Henry and Carlyle; three sisters, Martha, Sue and Willimena; a daughter, Joar) Kerns; a son, Alvin Schwersinske; and a granddaughter, Tamnrf VanderLeest.

Frey, age 78, of Madison, died on Monday, January 26, 1998 in a Madison nursing home, following a long illness. The former Adeline Kniebuehler was born on March 26, 1919 in Wau-nakee and has been a lifelong area resident.

She worked at Oscar Mayer in production for over 35 years. She was a long time member of the St. Peter -Catholic Church. She is survived by a son, Dennis Frev of Sheboygan; three sisters, Bilfie Crandall, Josephine Smith and Mary (Ted) Badenna all of Madison; a brother George Kniebuehler; two grandchildren, Jeffrey and Jason Frey and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Wilbert in 1987; her parents Frank and Adeline (DolfenJ Kniebuehler and a sister, Rosella Steinle and two brothers, John and Frank Kniebuehler.

Funeral services will be held at ST PETER CATHOLIC CHURCH 5001 North Sherman Avenue on Wednesday, January 28, 1998 at 10:30 a.m. Father Roger Nilles will officiate. RYAN FUNERAL HOME 2418 Sherman Avenue is serving the family Griggs, Claire MADISONTOMAH Claire Griggs, age 69, of Madison and tormerly ot lomah, died on Wednesday, January 21, 1998 at the St. Mary's Care Center in He was born in Tomah on March 3, 1928, to Claire and Grace (Kuckuck) Griggs. He was united in marriage to Eleanor Gitlar. Claire was a Corporal in the United States Marines and served in the Finance Department at Camp Le Jeune in North Carolina. He was employed as a locksmith for A-l Locksmith Company in Greendale, Wisconsin and for the University of Wisconsin in Madison.

He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; a son, C. Curt (Chari) Griggs of Reedsburg; a daughter, Bonita F. Griggs of Madison; two step-sons, David (Carol) Whitman of Cedar Creek, and Kent Whitman of Milwaukee; three sisters, Elva (Emil) Prise and Bev Drew, both of Tomah, and Carol (Arlan) Roeske of Sparta; and five grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lyle and Harold Griggs; and a sister, Ruth Griggs. Memorial services will be held at a later date in the spring.

Arrangements will be announced at that time by the WHITE FUNERAL HOME in Tomah. Gundiach, Kristin L. DENISON, TEXASJACKSON, L. Gundiach, age 30, of Jackson, Tennessee, died Saturday evening, January 24, 1998, from the results of an automobile accident in that city. Ms.

Gundiach was born in Milwaukee on December 1, 1967, the daughter of James A. and Rita (Jorstad) Gundiach. She was a 1986 graduate of Denison High School, Denison, Texas; a 1990 graduate of the University of Texas in Austin; and she was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Jackson. She was an Operations Manager with Proctor ana Gamble Manufacturing in Jackson. Prior to moving to Jackson, she was with Proctor ana Gamble at Sherman, Texas, from August of 1990 until October of 1997.

Survivors include her mother and father, James and Rita Gundiach of Denison; a sister and brother, Jacqueline Gundiach of Grapevine, Texas, and Scott (Steffanv) Gundiach of Spokane, Washington; and her maternal grandmother, Mary Jorstad of Middleton. She was preceded in death by her grandparents, Arne Jorstad, and Martin and Lois Gundiach. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at IMMACULATE HEART OF MARY CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5101 Schofield Street, at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 29, 1998 with Father Leo Petrinioulx, OFMCAP, presiding. Burial will be in Rose-lawn Memorial Park.

She was the daughter of Michael and Louisa (Zweifel) Jaggi. Hulda married Raymond Hetty on November 24, 1927, and they' farmed in the New Glarus area until moving to Belleville in 1947. Her husband. 1 I pital in Madison. She was born on December 19, 1921 in Adams County, Wisconsin, the daughter of Claude and Winifred (Dunham) Higbee.

Lila moved to the Edgerton area in 1939 coming from Dane County. She married Sterling Marsden on November 3, 1940 at the family farm in Edgerton. Lila was a member of the Albion Prairie Pri-mative Methodist Church, the Friendly Builders, and the Ladies Aid. She also belonged to the Sumner Workers, as a 4-H leader for 31 years, the Lotus Club and the Busseyville Homemakers. She is survived by her husband, Sterling of Edgerton; a daughter, Joy (Graydon Watts) Risse of Edina, Minnesota; six sons, Jerry Marsden of Waukesha, Dale (JoAnn Sornsonj Marsden of McFarland, Daniel (Margie) Marsden of Janesville, Keith Marsden of Fort Atkinson, Kent (Rhonda) Marsden of Milton, and Tim (girlfriend, Mary) of Edgerton; 16 grandchildren; three brothers, Lloyd (Arlene) Higbee of Madison, Orval "Red" (Barbara) Higbee, and Gordon Higbee, both of Eager-ton; and a sister, Doris (David) Pun-zel of Green Bay.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother; and two sisters. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 1998 at 1:00 p.m. at the ALBION PRAIRIE PRIMATIVE METHODIST CHURCH, with Pastor Richard Lewis officiating. until 8:00 p.m. at the ALBRECHT FUNERAL HOME in Edgerton. McGowan, Bernice C. DARLINGTON- Bernice C. McGowan, age 92, of Darlington, Wisconsin died unexpectedly on Sunday, January 25, 1998 at her home.

The former Bernice Catherine Smith was born November 27, 1905 in Blanchardville, Wisconsin, the daughter of Edward and Mary (Kelly) Smith. She was married to J. Bernard McGowan on November 17, 1925 in Darlington. He died on anuary 28, 1990. She was a mera-per of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Darlington, and of its' Council of Catholic Women.

Survivors are her children, Marion (Charles) Thomas, Rita (Robert) Martin, Janet (Gaylord) Mosley, Kay (Thomas Olson, all of Darlington, Imelda (Peter) Olson, California, Francis (Jeanne) McGowan, Rockford, Illinois and William (Sandy) McGowan of Darlington; 30 grandchildren; 64 greatgrandchildren; seven great-greatgrandchildren; a sister, Agnes Smith of Rockford, Illinois; and a daughter-in-law, Verlene McGowan, Darlington. She was receded in death by her parents; usband; a son, Robert McGowan (March 15, 1991); a daughter, Janice McGowan (August 1941); a grandson, Thomas C. Thomas (June 1968); four brothers, Maurice, Horace, Edward and Benjamin Smith; and a sister, Ruth Westerman (December 30, 1995). Pustina, Alma P. Barry RICHLAND CENTER Alma P. Barry Pustina, age 87, of Richland Center, died on Sunday, January 25, 1998 at the Schmitt Woodland Hills Health Care. She was born in Excelsior, Wisconsin, on October 11, 1910 to Theodore and Annie (Anderson) Halverson. Survivors include a daughter, Carol (Jim) Brock of Richland Center; two sons, Robert (Mercedes) Barry of Lone Rock, and Ted (Rose) Barry of Kenosha; a sister, Hazel (Francis) Buhmever of Richland Center; nine grandchildren; several greatgrandchildren; several brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She is also survived by several member of the John Pustina Family. Alma was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Thelma Henthorne; her husbands, George Barry, and John Pustina; and a great-grandson, Kevin Grell. Funeral services will be held at the PRATT MEMORIAL CHAPEL on Tuesday, January 27, 1998 at 7:00 p.m. Reverend Russ Frees will officiate. Private committal services will be held at 10:00 a.m.

on Wednesday at the Richland Center Cemetery. The PRATT FUNERAL SERVICE is assisting the family with their arrangements; Schneider, Milo Eugene OREGONSTOUGHTON Milo Eugene Schneider, age 86, died from a long illness on Saturday, January 24, 1998, at Skaalen Sunset Home in Stoughton.

He was born in the Township of Dunn, Oregon, Wisconsin, on February 15, 1911. Milo was married to Harriet Ellis on February 1, 1934, in Oregon, Illinois. Milo was born, raised and lived on his home farm his entire life. He was a farmer, fisherman, hunter and trapper. He served as Dunn Township Supervisor for six years.

Milo was also a director for the Cottage Grove, Oregon Insurance Cqmpany for 10 years. He was on the Oregon School Board for 11 years. Milo also worked for the ASC j- v. until 1990, a life member of the DAV, a current member of VFW Post 1318, and a life member of the Military Order of the Cootie. Survivors include two brothers, Donald (Rosemary) Cunningham and Milo "Mike" (Betty) Cunningham, both of Madison; three sisters, Edna Rabuck, Donna Jean Thorp, and Geraldine Fiest, all of Madison; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Otto and Goldie Cunningham; and a brother, Loren. Funeral services will be held at the GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 1998. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens with military rites conducted by the Madison Veterans Council Firing Squad. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m.

He was born on June 22, 1921 in Madison, the son of Irvin and Bessie Dugan. He grew up on Madison's Eastside, ana was a student at East High School. He was a veteran of World War II. On April 15, 1950 he married Charlotte H. Berg of Ridgeway, who preceded him in death in 1985.

Jim is survived by his two daughters; a son; five grandchildren; a sister, Virginia Kieras; and a brother, Eugene (Dorothy) Dugan, all of McFarland. He was preceded in death by his parents; a grandson; and two brothers, Robert and Morry. Funeral services were held on January 2, 1998 in Pearland, Texas. Dyer, Ernest W. "Pat" MADISON Ernest W.

"Pat" Dyer, age 84, died on Sunday, January 25, 1998 at Karmenta Nursing Home. He was born on March 17, 1913, one of eleven children of Albert and Charlotte (Smith) Dyer, in Boscobel. Pat married Olivette Boak on December 2, 1931 in Richland Center, Wisconsin. He retired from Ohio Medical Company in 1978, and operated gas stations over the years and was a master auto mechanic. Pat was a longtime member of the Bashford United Methodist Church.

He was a former member of the Hiram Lodge 50, Eagle's Club Post 623, Moose Lodge 1451, and the N.R.A. Pat enjoyed fishing, hunting, and made many successful trips to Wyoming and Canada. His proudest trip being, bringing home his prize moose from Canada. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Olivette; a son, Doyle of Madison; two daughters, Ms. Lenny J.

Dyer of Middleton, and Mrs. Linda (Ralph) Jensen of McFarland; nine grandchildren, Diane (Barney) Smith, Eldene (Billj Hansen, Patricia Kennedy, Robbie (Tony) Recker, Lori Dyer, Cindi Perry, Kim (Dale) Richmond, Patrick Jensen and Kristi Jensen; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Alma Madis, Ruth (John) Fil-bach, and Susie Ward. He was preceded in death by his parents; a beloved son-in-law, Eldon "AT Blumer in 1953; a beloved daughter, Delores (Blumer) Roberts in 1992; four infant daughters, Marion Rose, Kay Marie, Loretta Jean, and Sarah Jane; four brothers, Delos, Albert, Marion, and Mike; and three sisters, Lizzie, Bessie, and Marie. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 28, 1998 at 12:00 noon at the GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, with Reverend Logan Holder presiding. Burial will follow in Roselawn Memorial Park.

Friends may call on Wednesday morning from 10:00 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home. Pat was devoted to his faith, his family, his friends and will be dearly missed by all. The family wishes to thank the dedicated staff at Karmenta for the compassionate care they gave Pat for more than five years. A very special thank you goes to Patricia Kennedy for her loving care of her grandpa and his family in our time of need.

Clymer, Christina D. SUN PRAIRIE Christina D. Clymer, age 45, died on Sunday, January 25, 1998, in a Madison hospital. She was born in Grafton, Wisconsin, on July 24, 1952. She is survived by her husband, Steven; and four children.

A visitation will be held on Thursday, January 29, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the TUSCHEN-NEWCOMER FUNERAL HOME, 302 Columbus Street in Sun Prairie. There will be no fu-neral services. Cougill, Herman L.

STOUGHTON Herman L. Cougill, age 94, died peacefully at the Skaalen Home on Sunday, January 25, 1998. He was born on Uctober 5, 1903 in Greene Countv, Ohio, the second son of the late Charles and Tabitha (Bullock) Cougill. He graduated in 1922, from the Anderson, Indiana High School, and he furthered his education at the Gar-ritt Evangelical Biblical Institute in Chicago, graduating in 1926. Herman later attended DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, finishing his studies in 1928.

On May 6, 1930, he married the former June L. Parish of Stoughton, at the Stoughton United Methodist Church. Herman was employed by the Western Union Telegraph Company in Chicago, serving as Personnel Director, retiring after 38 years of service in 1967. He and his' wife moved to Stoughton in 1979, where they were members of the United Methodist Church. He was active in the life of the church for over 80 years.

Herman's favorite hobbies were painting, chair caning, and collecting stamps, coins and postcards. Herman is survived by two sisters-in-law, Ruth Paulson of Stoughton, and Maellyn (Arthur) Amundson of Viroqua; six nephews and nieces, including Kim and Mary Hanson of Stoughton. He was preceded in death by his wife, June on January 23, 1995; his only son, Lt. Robert P. Cougill, a pilot in the United States Air Force; a sister-in-law, Beulah Watson; a niece, Kay Sickler; and two brothers.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, January 28, 1998 at the UNITED METHODIST CHURCH OF STOUGHTON, 525 Lincoln Avenue. Reverend Clyde S. Cross will officiate. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.

The family will greet friends from" 10:00 a.m." until the time of service on Wednesday at the church. Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church of Stoughton. Olson-Holzhuter-Cress Stoughton 873-9244 Cunningham, Byron B. MADISON- Byron B. Cun ningham, age 78, died on Sunday, January 25, 1998 at the Madison Veterans Hospital.

He was born on October 21, 1919 in Richland Center and been a longtime Madison resident. He served in the United States Army from 1937 until 1942. He was a member of Madison Baptist Church, a past member and Commander of VFW Post 7591, Dane County VFW Council Commander from 1989 MADISON Larry A. Lajoie, age 47, passed away on Saturday, January 24, 1998, at home. He was born on February 9 1950 in Holyoke, Massachusetts.

He served as a firefighter for the Air Force during the Viet Nam War. He married Linda Cragin on October 7, 1972 in Superior, Wisconsin. He has been a Madison resident for the East five years. Survivors include is wife, Linda; a daughter Angela (Randy) Hansen; his parents, Ar-mand and Gloria a brother Bruce (Donna); two sisters, Gail Richard and Sandra (Robert) McCormick and many nieces and nephews. Memorial services will be held at 12:00 noon on Wednesday, January 28, 1998 at FITCH-LA WRENCE-SANFILLIPPO CRESS FUNERAL HOME 6021 University Avenue, Madison.

Leonard, Margaret May TOWN OF VIENNA Margaret May Leonard, age 83, of the Town of Vienna, died on Sunday, January 25, 1998 at the Waunakee Manor Health Care Center. The former Margaret May Tormey was born on May 9, 1914 in Richland Countv to John and Fannie (Standish) Tormey. She married Russell W.

Leonard on August 11, 1941 in Richland Center and he preceded her in death on last Wednesday, January 21, 1998. Margaret graduated from Platteville State Teachers College where she earned a degree in Primary Education. She taught school until her marriage to Russ. She was a member of the United Church of Christ in Windsor. Survivors include three sons, Richard (Connie) of Poynette, Harry (Sharon) of Pardeeville, and Kenneth (Sue) of Madison; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, James and Joanne Leonard of Waunakee; sisters-in-law, Darlene Tormey of Richland Center, and Ruth Gunesch of Littleton, Colorado; and many nieces and nephews.
