Roselawn Memorial Park, 601 E. Broadway St. Martin Shanahan REEDSBURG Martin Shanahan, 73, of Chicago, was found dead Monday (Sept. 27, 1971) at his home of natural causes. Formerly of Loretta, Mr.

Shanahan moved to Chicago in 1921 and was a retired car conductor for the Chicago Transit Authority. Surviving are two brothers, Joseph, Loganville; and James, Downes Grove, and a sisJohn Gillespie, Hill- polin.Mrs. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Loretta.

Friends may call after 7 tonight at the Gant Funeral home, where the rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Edward J. Arnold COLUMBUS Edward J. Arnold, 74, died Monday (Sept. 27, 1971) in a Wyocena nursing home after a long illness.

He was a lifelong resident of the Town of Hampden, where he had farmed until his retirement. Mr. Arnold was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, East Bristol. Surviving are two sisters, Elizabeth and Anna, and a brother, Alvin, all of Columbus.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Thursday in the church. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the Jones Funeral Home, where the rosary will be recited at 8 tonight, Joseph M. Bollig MIDDLETON Joseph M.

Bollig, 83, Rt. 2, Poynette, died Tuesday (Sept. 28, 1971) in a k-Prairie Hospital after a brief illness. He farmed in Dane County until his retirement in 1959. He had lived in Poynette for the past year after living in Cross Plains and Mazomanie.

He married the former Matilda Howery. She died in 1970. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Verlin Walworth, Baraboo; and Mrs. Marlin Schlick, Black Earth; two sons, John, Wheatridge, and Ben, Poynette; a brother, Fred, Mazo-5 manie; a sister, Mrs.

Thorn, South Milwaukee; six grandchildren; and four greatgrandchildren. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the Gruber Funeral Home, where friends may call after 5 p.m. today. Burial will be in Sunset Memory Gardens, Madison.

Mrs. William Ebbert FT. ATKINSON Mrs. Wil(liam Ebbert, 71, died Tuesday (Sept. 28, 1971) in a Ft.

Atkinson hospital after a brief illness. The former Hattie Strohbusch was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Maurice Klinke, 4500 Monona, Dr.

Also surviving are her husband; two daughters, Mrs. Evelyn Wagner and Mrs. Irene Maasz, both -of Ft. Atkinson; six brothers, Alfred and Herman, both of Ft. Atkinson, and Edgar, Adolph, Ronald, and Robert, all of Cambridge; grandchildren; and two greatgrandchildren.

Marie Zimmerli MONROE Miss Marie Zimmerli, 88, died Tuesday (Sept. 28, 1971) in a Monroe hospital after a brief illness. A native of Switzerland, she came to Monroe in 1889. Miss Zimmerli later headed the home economics department at Stevens Point High School, retiring in 1948. She was a graduate of Stevensl Point Normal School.

She was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. Surviving is a sister, Mrs. I. R.

Ustine, 72, Charles Thrasher, 66, of Beloit, Dies BELOIT Charles M. Thrasher, 66, died Monday (Sept. 27, 1971) in a hospital after an illness. He was a Beloit resident for most of his life. He married the former Dorothy Zimmerman in Harvard, in 1962.

He was a chemical processor for Klenaid Products, and a World War II veteran of the Navy. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Izaac Walton League, and the Beloit Archery Club. Surviving are his wife; a son Glenn, Beloit; four daughters, Mrs. Carol Visgar, and Mrs. Sharon Floyd, both of South Beloit, Mrs.

Sandra Berg, Beloit; and Linda, Montevideo, a stepson, David Adams, South Beloit; two stepdaughters, Sandra Adams and Mrs. Catherine Blakley, both of Beloit; four brothers, Fred, Brookfield; and Robert, Donald, and Charles, all of Beloit; and six sisters, Mrs. Frances Lamb, Mrs. Betty Allen, Mrs. Marie Erickson, and Mrs.

Nana Hogan, all of Beloit; Mrs. Grace Dowell, Janesville; and Mrs. Helen Whitledge, Brodhead. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday in the RosmanUehling-Kinzer Cranston Rd.

Funeral Home, where friends may call between 7 and 9 tonight. John P. Popson JANESVILLE John P. Popson, 64, died Monday (Sept. 27, 1971) in a Janesville hospital after a brief illness.

He married the former Lillian Reynolds in 1932. He was a member of Fairbanks-Morse Quarter Century Club. He retired from the company last Nov. 1 after 40 years. He was a member of St.

Mary's Catholic Church. Surviving are his wife; a son, James, Hillside, a daughter, Mrs. William Slattery, Janesville; his mother, Mrs. Michael Popson, West Leisenring, four brothers, Stephen, Clearwater, Joseph, Uniontown, Andrew, Warren, and Francis, Warren, two sisters, Mrs. John May, West Leisenring, and Mrs.

Thursday. Mrs. Betthauser, 68, Ex-Teacher, Dies NORWALK Mrs. Emma Betthauser, 68, a retired school teacher died Monday (Sept. 27, 1971) in a Sparta hospital after a long illness.

The former Emma Sutton. was married in 1927 to James Betthauser. He died in 1951. She was an elementary teacher in the Brookwood District for more than 25 years before retiring in June. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs.

Robert Page, Sparta; and Mrs. Parnell Donahue, Hartford; three sisters, Mrs. Glenn Scott, Denver, Mrs. E. G.

Smith, Kendall; and Mrs. Harold Cole, Black River Falls; a brother, Rollin, Tomah; and seven grandchildren. The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday in St. Augustine's Catholic Church.

Friends may call after 2 p.m. today and until 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the Robert Page Funeral Home, Norwalk. The family suggested that memori-4 als be made to any children's fund. Idor Aspenson VIROQUA Idor Aspenson, 65, died Monday (Sept.

27, 1971) in a Viroqua hospital. He married the former Signe Saegrove in 1933. Mr. Aspenson was an employe of Fortney Hard ware, Gays Mills, for 17 years. He then worked as a salesman 17 years for the LaCrosse Steel and Roofing Co.

Thursday in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Friends may call tonight at the Beier Funeral Miss Weightman, Former Teacher in Madison, Dies ESTHER WEIGHTMAN DUNEDIN, Fla. Miss Esther Weightman, a long time. Wisconsin high school teacher, died here Sept. 12, 1971.

Born in Mound City, Weightman received her bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri in 1918. She taught in Missouri high schools for four years before coming to the University of Wisconsin for a master's degree in Latin and classics. She was a Latin teacher at Wisconsin High School for 38 years and also served as the school's dean of girls. Miss Weightman was an as(sistant professor in the Dept. of Education at the UW where she taught education methods courses.

She retired from teaching in 1961. Mrs. Clara Woodward BRODHEAD Mrs. Clara Woodward, 77, was found dead Monday (Sept. 27, 1971) at her home.

Green County Coroner Richard Wagner, ruled that Mrs. Wooward had died of natural causes and had been dead for about a week. The former Clara Johnson was married to Manly D. Woodward in 1915 South Dakota. Mr.

Woodward died in 1946. Mrs. Woodward recently retired as Spring Grove Township treasurer after 25 years at the position. She was also a charter member of the Spring Grove Friendly Farmerettes. Surviving are two daughters, Mrs.

Fred Deppeler, Brodhead; and Mrs. Robert Buehl, Monticello; a son Merril, Oregon; three sisters, Mrs. Nora Lewis, Miami, Mrs. Jubal Jorgenson, Bellingham, and Harley Strickler, S.D.: a brother, Oral Johnson, Okaton, S.D.; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m.

Mr. Fremo has been a resident of the Windsor area for 10 years, and was a former emplove of the Wingra Stone Co. He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church, DeForest. Surviving are his wife; a daughter, Mrs. Cyril Heiser 398 Starling Lane; two sisters, Mrs.

Rock County Deputy Coroner Charles Gramke ruled the death, due to electrocution after a steel rod Mr. Tracy was carrying, struck an overhead wire carrying 7,200 volts. He had been a Janesville resident since 1949.

Mr. Tracy was a cement finisher for his father, a tion contractor. He was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran a Church. Surviving are his wife, the former Diane Hanson, three sons, Chad, Ronnie, and Craig, and a daughter, Kim, all at home; his parents, Mr.

Ivan Grover, Capron, and Mrs. Alma Tracy, Mauston. LaVerne Erickson SOUTH WAYNE LaVerne Erickson, 41, Woodford, died Monday (Sept. 27, 1971) in a Darlington hospital after a long illness. He farmed near South Wayne, moving to Woodford in 1958.

He was a member of the East Wiota Lutheran Church. Surviving are a brother, Clinton, Monroe; and two sisters, Mrs. Paul Beck, Hazel Green; and Mrs. Ernie Phillips, Dousman. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m.

He died in 1959. She was a Madison resident more than 40 years. Mrs. Ustine was a former member of the Glenwood Moravian Church and was a member of the Royal Neighbors of America. Surviving are a son, Charles West Allis; two sisters, Lydia Jones, Albany; and Mrs.

August Heed August Heed, 70, of 1635 Haas died Monday (Sept. 27, 1971) in a hospital after a brief illness. Born in Sweden, Mr. Heed came to the United States in 1924 and settled in Duluth, Minn. He came to Madison in 1 1932.

He was employed as a mechanic with the Greyhound Bus Co. for 42 years. He retired in 1966. Surviving is his wife, the former Kathyrn Cafferty. The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m.

Mrs. Mildred Shilliam Schuetze, 59, a nationally known Shetland pony breeder, died Tuesday (Sept. 28, 1971) at his home after a long illness. He graduated from Ripon College and the Madison Business College. He owned and operated (Schuetze's Clothing Store in Monroe.

He had served as director of the Wisconsin Horse Assn. and as secretary and publicity director of the Green County Fair. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, and was a member of the Kiwanis Clubn the Midwest Clothing both the Wisconsin and the Green County Historical Socieites, the Monroe Chamber of Commerce, and the Monroe Country Club. Surviving are his wife; his mother, Mrs. Sophie Schuetze; and two sons, William, a law student at the University of Kentucky; and John, a student at Northwestern University.

Shilliam was a lifelong Platteville resident and a member of the Rebekah Lodge, American Legion Auxiliary, and World War I Auxiliary. Nora I. Kittleson, Ex-Teacher, Dies MT. HOREB Miss Nora I. Kittleson died Monday (Sept. 27, 1971) in a Madison nursing" home after a long illness.

She was a graduate of the A TO University of Wisconsin and taught school in the Mt. Horeb area for many years. Mrs. Kittleson later was a practical nurse and worked for several years at University Hospitals in Madison. She was a lifelong member of the Perry Lutheran Church.
