Meara, Trika jio MADISON Trika Jio Meara of Madison, died on Sunday, October 19, 1997 at Meriter Park Hospital of a sudden illness. Trika was born in Wapato, Washington, and came to Madison in 1960. Trika was a bookkeeper for the Klein-Dickert Company for 30 years, retiring in April of 1997. She is survived by two children, Leslie (Steve) Diem of Middleton, and Kevin (Lizette) Meara of Madison; three grandchildren, Briana, Taylor ana Peyton; two sisters, Michiko Jio (Hideo) Akagi, and Karon Jio Tanaba, both bf California; a brother, Mas (Grace) Jio of Washington; and eight nieces and nephews. Trika was preceded in death by her mother; Sei Hirakawa; and father, Shoichjko Hirakawa.

There will be no funeral service. Friends may call at the GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 7435 University Avenue Near Parmenter Street), Middleton, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Friday, October 24, 1997. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established at a later date.

We will remember our mother, sister, grandmother and friend with great love and gratitude for the gift of having been part of her life. Reding, Jerome J. POTOSI Jerome J. Reding, age 73, of Potosi, died on Tuesday, October 21, 1997, at his home, following a short battle with cancer. He was born on May 8, 1924, in the Township of Cassville, the son of Frank ana Millie (Fishnick) Reding. On September 15, 1979, he married Katherirte "Kay" Waechter at St.

Thomas Catholic Church in Potosi. Together they farmed for 18 years. Jerome was a long-time member of St. Thomas Church. He was an avid sportsman and thoroughly enjoyed fishing, hunting and trap- Eing as well as having coffee with is friends at The Roadnouse.

He is survived by his wife, Kay; three step-sons, Fred (Kim) Schmitt of Viola, Daniel (Susan) Schmitt of Potosi, and William (Veda) Schmitt of Platteville; two step-daughters, Josephine Willson of Pearl City, Illinois, and Kimberly (Joseph) Marino of Whitewater; 15 step-grandchildren; a brother, Francis (Bernice) Reding of Potosi; and many cousins and nieces. Preceding him in death were his parents. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday morning, October 24, 1997, at SAINT THOMAS CATHOLIC CHURCH in Potosi, with the Reverend J. Leffler officiating.

"Andy" An derson, age 82, of North Canton, Ohio, passed away on Monday, October 20, 1997, at the Aultman Hospital, after a brief illness.

He was born in Madison on October 1915, to Albert and Rhoda Anderson. He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States -Navy in the Atlantic Fleet. Arnold lived in North Canton since 1970. He retired from Babcock and Wilcox Construction Company in February of 1961, after 41 years of service. Mr.

Anderson's most recent position with was as Manager of Nuclear Proposals and Contracts. He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church, North Canton, a 32nd degree Mason, belonged to Tadmor Temple, Bay City Consistory (Blue Lodge), and a life member of North Canton Elks 2029. Andy was an avid golfer at and Bob-O-Link courses and enjoyed bowling in leagues at 'both Colonial and North Canton Recreation Lanes. He is survived by his loving wife, Dorothy Evelyn (Hahn) Anderson, they just celebrated their 55th wedding anniversary on October 13th; two daughters and a son-in-law, Karen and Farouk El Masry of Phoenix, and Nancy Anderson of Evanston, Illinois; brother and sister-in-law, Theodore and Joyce Maren of Joliet, brother-in-law, Herbert Hahn of Cole City, Illinois; nephews, Russell Anderson of San Diego, California, and David Anderson of Middleton; nieces, Barbara Anderson of Charleston, South Carolina, and Terri Bush Nelson of Elk Grove, Illinois; cousins, Betty Lueck of Roseville, Minnesota, David Lueck of Winona, Minnesota, and Ginny Beckett of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; close friends of long standing, George and Myrtle Alderson, Mrs. Fred (Darlene) Horstmeier of Madison, Mrs.

Mary's Hos- Eital in Madison. Grace Welch was orn on March 1, 1924 in Mauston, Wisconsin, the daughter of John Vinopal and Barbara (Mrkvicka) Vinopal. She married George P. Welch who preceded her in death on January 13, 1994. She was the Librarian in Poynette for 20 and was an active member of St.

Thomas the Apostle Catholic Church. Grace was a joy to her family and all who knew her, espe-1 daily her many close friends at Thomas Catholic Church. She was very active with her many hobbies, which included gardening and traveling. Perhaps the most enjoyable of her many hobbies, which included gardening and traveling. Haskins, Gale L. PRAIRIE DU CHIEN Gale L. Haskins, age 63, of Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin, died on Tuesday, October 21, 1997, at Prairie Healthcare Center in Prairie du Chien. He was born on July 18, 1934 in Boscobel, Wisconsin, the son of Henry and Leafy (Stevenson) Haskins. Gale was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the Mt.

Hope Legion. Survivors include a sister, Evelyn (Mark) Freymiller of Fennimore; and many nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 23, 1997, at 11:00 a.m. at HANEY RIDGE CEMETERY in rural Boscobel. Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Mount Hope Legion.

Reverend Gary Jensen will officiate. The BEE-MAN-PATCHAK FUNERAL HOME of Boscobel, is assisting the family. Knoche, Gerald Wills MADISON VERONA Gerald Wills "Jerry" Knoche, age 68, died at Meriter Hospital, Wednesday, October 22, 1997 after a battle with cancer. He was born November 24, 1928 to George and Nancy (Wills) Knoche. He was the owner operator of Kno-che's Food Center and personally delivered groceries to area elderly and shut-ins.

He formally served as a director of the Mid-State Food Dealer's Association. He was the beloved husband of Sarah (Caruso) Knoche, whom he married June 25, 1949. He was very close to their three children, Steven (Stephanie) Knoche, David (Linda) Knoche, and Nancy (Robert) Lehr. Jerry cherished his seven grandchildren: Shawn, Tammy, Staci, Brian, Angela, Robbie, and Trisha, and maintained a swimming pool for their enjoyment for many years. He took great pride in his home and yard, and enjoyed playing bingo and euchre.

He is further survived by two brothers, Roland (Emily) of Middleton and Robert of Madison; two sisters, Betty (Garvin) Soots of Phoenix, Arizona and Dorothy Kolb of Madison; two sisters-in-law, Rosie Richards of Madison and Mary Ann Burkhalter of Miami, Florida; and numerous, nephews, nieces and cousins. He was pre- ceded in death by his parents, George and Nancy Knoche. He was a charter member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church where he was a faithful usher. Jerry was a great husband, father, grandfather and friend, and will re deeply missed by all who knew him.

The family wishes to express their gratitude to all who gave their comfort and support during Jerry's illness, especially Father Donald Murray, Sister Georgeann, the Oncology Staff of Meriter Hospital, and Hos- Eice Care. MARSHALL Marie E. Lynch, age 43, passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 1997, at her home. She was born on May 18, 1954 in Madison, the daughter of Henry C. And Ann M. (Kurchten) Stuntebeck.

She married Richard Lynch on May 17, 1975 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Marshall. She had been employed Oscar Mayer in Madison For over 20 years and was a member of St. Mary of the Nativity Catholic Church in Marshall. Survivors include her husband, Rick; mother, Ann Stuntebeck of Marshall; two children, Brandon and Brianna, both at home; brother, James (Jill) -v S.

Bround, age 93, died on Tuesday, October 21, 1997, in a Madison hospital. The former Laurene Ar-neson was born in Blue Mounds on March 24, 1904. She taught school in Mount Horeb and was also a School Teacher. In 1937 she was united in marriage with John G. Bround and they lived in Niles, Michigan, moving back to Mount Horeb in 1973.

Mrs. Bround was a member of the Mount Horeb United Methodist Church, a volunteer worker at the Ingleside Nursing Home and a Girl Scout Leader for many years. Survivors include a son, Thomas (Wendy) Bround of Madison; a daughter, Mary E. (H. Douglas) Smith of Saint Paul, Minnesota; four grandchildren, Evelyn Bround, and Scott, Craig, and Daniel Smith; a great-grandson, Andrew Smith; and a sister, Melba Means of Madison.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John in 1981; two brothers, Harland and Marvin Arneson; and two sisters, Viletta Myrland, and Lila Thousand. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 25, 1997 at 3:30 p.m. at the MOUNT HOREB UNITED METHODIST CHURCH. Interment will be in the West Blue Mounds Cemetery. Clarke, age 83, died on Tuesday, October 21. 1997. at Oregon Manor Nursing Home, from emphysema. He was born on December 13, 1913, to Leon and Jennie Clarke in Madison. He spent most of his life in the Madison area.

He worked for Borsuks Grocery and Stehr's Market in the late 1930's and 1940's. He married Catherine O'Neill on May 19, 1952 in Hay-ward, Wisconsin. He worked at the Badger Ordinance Works where his wife contracted polio on the summer of 1955 Polio Eoidemic. She laid in an iron lung tor 18 months at University Hospital, where she died in December of 1956. She left, a son, Steven, age 3, and a daughter, Patricia, age 2.

He moved back to Madison and worked for Research Products Company for 22 years. He retired in 1978 and moved to DeForest to be near his daughter's family. He lived at De-Forest Senior Housing on Main Street until he fell in August of 1996, and then resided at Oregon Manor Nursing Home from September 17, 1996 until his death. Survivors include his son, Steven (Cathy) Clarke of Savage, Minnesota; his sister, Genevieve Kamin-skas of Oregon; his sister-in-law, Luella Clarke; two granddaughters, Melissa Smith, and Sarah Clarke; three grandsons, Matthew and Nathan Smith, and Steven Clarke, his niece, Sharon (Arnie) Sime; his nephews, Jerome (Joyce) Clarke, Kenneth Clarke Douglas (Betty) Clarke, Ronald (Jane) Schwenn, David (Judy) Schwenn, and Curtis (Jane) Schwenn. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughter, Patricia Smith; and a brother, Kenneth J.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the hour of services O'Connor, Clifford J. VENICE, FLORIDAMADISON Clifford J. O'Connor, aee 81, died on Monday, October 20, 1997 in Venice, Florida. He was born February 25, 1916, in the town of Primrose, Wisconsin, the son of Edward J.

and Ellen (Murray) O'Connor. He was a 3rd and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus and the Friendly Sons and Daughters of St. Patrick, both in Venice, Florida. He was also a member of the Epiphany Cathedral in Venice. He was a Navy veteran of World War II, and a retired manager of the Veterans Administration Canteen Service.

Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Ann (Powers) of Venice, Florida; two daughters, Mary Ann (Frank) Wywialowski of Beloit, Wisconsin and Ellen (Michael) Coonen of Kaukauna, a sister, Helen McKenna of Madison; a sister-in-law, Mary Powers of Madison; a brother-in-law, Harry Robertson of Texas; and five grandchildren, Ann and Scott Wywialowski, Wendy, Timothy, and Jonathan Coonen. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Esther Robertson and Mary Catherine O'Connor; arid a brother, Jerome O'Connor. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at BLESSED SACRAMENT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2131 Row-ley Avenue, Madison, at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 1997, the Reverend Stan Drongowski officiating. Peterson, age 69, of Stoughton, died suddenly on Tues- day, October 21, 1997, at Stoughton Hospital. He was born on June 20, 1928, in Wisconsin Dells, to Harold and Emma Peterson. Richard served in the United States Marines during the Korean War. He married Alice Strand on October 25, 1950, in Stoughton. He enjoyed aviation his entire life.

Survivors include his wife, Alice of Stoughton; three sons, Richard Jr. (Sally) of East Troy, Robert (Patti) of East Troy, and Ronald (Tami) of Stoughton; six grandchildren, Richard III, Christopher, Sam, Sarah, Kate, and Ryan; sister, LaVerne (Robert) Liv-ick of Arizona; and brother, John (Judy) Peterson of Colorado Springs. He is survived by his sister, Alma Risley of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and best friend, Joseph Cor-dio of Oregon; eight children, Tara, Cathy, Tony, Leonard, Janice, Patricia, Gregory, Tammy; sixteen grandchildren; and 3 great-grand children. He was preceded in death by a son, Joseph. She was born on April 6, 1942 in Edgerton, a daughter of Emil and Leona (Strieker) Kepp. She graduated from Edgerton High School in I960 and later attended Madison Area Technical College. On July 9, 1966, she married Butch Richmond at St. John's Lutheran Church in Edgerton. Joan loved working as a child care provider and was a member of McFarland Lutheran Church.

She enjoyed writing poems for all occasions, short stories, and had a special gift to enjoy the simple things in life, such as camping, campfires, fall colors and sunsets. She was very close with her classmates from 1960 and enjoyed their get togeth-ers a couple times a year. Joan is survived Dy her hushand, Butch; her children, Michelle of Madison, and Heidi of McFarland; her grandson, Jordan; her mother, Leona Kepp of Edgerton; her sister, Ann (Dan) Ferguson of Edgerton; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.

on Saturday, October 25, 1997 at MCFARLAND LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5529 Marsh Road. Reverend Terry L. Peterson will officiate. Burial will be in Ede- erton Fasgett Cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 p.m.

Olson-Holzhuter-Cress 5801 Highway 51 McFarland 258-9527 Roberts, Albert Allen "Bert" ARENAMOUNT HOREB Albert Allen "Bert" Roberts passed away on Tuesday, October 21, 1997, after four years of living with pulmonary fibrosis and cancer. He was born on September 16, 1920, in Arena Townsnip, Iowa County, to William and Nora (Moyer) Roberts. He graduated from Arena High School in 1939 and married Enid Thomas of Ridgeway on October 15, 1946.

He farmed south of Arena until 1970 and then worked as a maintenance supervisor at University of Wisconsin Hospital in Madison, until 1982. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Enid; eight children, Kent Roberts of Mount Horeb, Darwin (Dianna) Roberts of Madison, Sharon (Phil) Jay of Chandler, Arizona, Judi (Joe, deceased 1996) VanDerSchaaf of Mount Horeb, Jim (Kathie) Roberts of Deerfield, Robin (Penny) Roberts of DeForest, Jeff Roberts bf Austin, Texas, and Laurie (Todd) Seiler of Mount Horeb; 17 grandchildren; a brother, Marvin (Minnie) of Arena; three sisters, Delia Hanson of Dodgeville, Eva Richardson of Ocala, Florida, and Ethel (Wendell) James of Barneveld; many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Alice and Lucille; and two brothers, William and Woodrow. Bert was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting, fishing, trapping, gardening, and many sports.

He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the Wisconsin Trappers Association. He was also an active member of the Mount Horeb Evangelical Free Church. Funeral services will be held at the ARENA BIBLE CHURCH on Saturday, October 25, 1997, at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Robert Jacobson and Reverend Larry Pierce co-officiating. Friends may call on Friday, October 24, 1997, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Atkinson, age 61, of Mount Horeb, formerly of Muscoda, died on Monday, October 20, 1997, unexpectedly, at University Hospital in Madison. She was born on September 1, 1936 in Platteville, the daughter of Clifford arid Gertrude (Beckett) Reeves. In 1955 she graduated from Benton High School. On August 31, 1957 she was united in marriage to Theodore Ted" Atkinson at St. Mary's Cathcr-lic Church in Platteville.

She was employed at Land's End in Dodgeville, she enjoyed working with ceramics, gardening and attending to her flowers. Her life was her children and grandchildren. She is survived by Tier husband, Theodore "Ted" Atkinson of Mount Horeb; five children, Curtis Atkinson of Stoughton, Nicholas Atkinson of Mount Horeb, Rebecca (Toby) Johnson of Muscoda, Ra-mona (Larry) Hach of Blue River, and Melissa (Michael) Cumming of Madison; nine grandchildren, Nicole and Kara Atkinson, Lacy, and Jaide Johnson, Lindsay, Justin, and Morgan Hach, and Jef-. frey Cumming; two sisters, "Kitty" Crase of Belmont, and Kristy (Charles) Phipps of Lodi; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; and two infant grandchildren, Jonathan and Beth Johnson.
