County Board Chairman Jonathan Becker can be reached at 266-4360. Richard Kneeland SAN DIEGO, Calif. Richard Kneeland, a long-time actor with the Trinity Repertory Company of Providence, R.I., has died. He was 68. Kneeland was found dead July 19 in his San Diego home.

He was believed to have fallen and hit his head, but an autopsy is pending, said his sister, Faith Bitterolf. Kneeland appeared in Broadway and in Off-Broadway productions, but was best known for his work with the Trinity Repertory. John Fenton Murray LOS ANGELES John Fenton Murray, who wrote laugh lines for Red Skelton and for the castaways of "Gilligan's Island," has died at age 79. Murray died Wednesday at a hospital. A longtime friend, Will Fowler, said he suffered from leukemia.

Born in Lincoln, Murray moved to Los Angeles in 1930. Still a teen-ager, he worked at the Ambassador Hotel, where entertainment figures gathered. He studied writing at Los Angeles City College. After serving in the U.S. Navy during World War II, Murray became head writer for the Red Skelton radio show, which later moved to TV.

The family requests that memorials be made to the St. John's Lutheran Church or to the Richland Hospital. The PRATT FUNERAL SERVICE is assisting the family with their ar-rangements. Schwoerer, Russell E. BEAVER DAM Russell E.

Schwoerer, age 59, of rural Beaver Dam, formerly of Deerfield, passed away on Friday, July 26, 1996 at Beaver Dam Community Hospital. He was born on April 25, 1937 in Cross Plains, the son of Walter and Edith (Hefty) Schwoerer. On September 7, 1957 he married Sandra Evans, who preceded him in death in 1993. Mr. Schwoerer was a graduate of Vocational Technical School in Rice Lake in 1955.

He was employed as a carpenter from 1958 to 1992.. Mr. Schwoerer was employed with the Madison Public School District as a foreman for the carpenters for many years. He also ran a small farm in the Deerfield area where he was known loved by many. Mr.

Schwoerer served his country in the Wisconsin Army National Guard from 1961 to 1962. Survivors include two daughters, Lynda (Brad) Ward of Michigan, Janet (Don) Manson of Indiana; five sons R. Todd (Jacquie) Schwoerer of Deerfield, Paul (Laurie) Schwoerer of Stoughton, Rick (Lisa) Schwoerer of McFarland, Ron (Kathy) Schwoerer of McFarland, and Dale (Angel) Schwoerer of Deerfield; 10 grandchildren; his father, Walter Schwoerer of Beaver Dam; and a brother, Ken Schwoerer of Mississippi; nieces and nephews; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his mother and his wife. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 1996 at 12:00 Noon at ST.

Seitz, Shirley M. PONTIAC, MICHIGAN SAUK PRAIRIE Shirley M. Seitz, age 68, of Pontiac, Michigan, died on Saturday, July 27, 1996. Funeral arrangements are pending at GNEWIKOW-HOOVERSON FUNERAL HOME, Sauk City. Stein, Judith R.

MADISON Judith R. Stein, age 81, died on Saturday, July 27, 1996. Judith was the widow of Samuel J. Stein, mother of Roberta J. Stein of Milwaukee.

Mrs. Stein was a 40 year resident of Madison. She was a cific and was discharged with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. In 1945, he joined his brother, Richard, in the Richard E. Ela Company, an industrial supply firm, an association that continued until 1972 when he sold his interest to other members of the family.

On April 27, 1946, he married Mary Jane Groth who died in 1984. He married Mary Ellen (Mel) Beach on November 29, 1985. He was also preceded in death by his sister, Ellen Ela; and brothers, Walter and Richard Ela. He is survived by his wife; a son. Thomas G.

Ela (Susan) of Milwaukee, their children, Julia, John and Anne Ela; and by a daughter, Katharine (Thomas) McMahan of Madison, and their children, Erin and Scott McMahan. Bob was active in business and community affairs, serving on the boards of directors of J.H. Findorff and Son. the University Bookstore, Village of Maple Bluff. Madison Club, Madison Downtown Rotary, and Wisconsin Central States Industrial Distributors Associations.

He was also a member of the Maple Bluff Country Club and the Chi Phi fraternity. She was bora on November 25, 1906 in Westby, the daughter of Even Erickson and Sena Nestingen. She married Edward J.

Mutch, who preceded her in death on September 30, 1980. Naomi was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church. Survivors include two daughters, Enid (Earl) Mellen of Richland Center, and Rosemarie (Robert) Carthew of Palmira, Pennsylvania; four grandchildren; and 5 great great grandchildren. age 92, of Black Earth, passed away on Saturday, July 27, 1996 at Heartland Country Village Nursing Home. She was born in the Township of Berry on January 5, 1904, the daughter of the late Louie and Emma (Beifelt) Miller. She was united in marriage on January 20, 1926 to Carl Brockman, who preceded her in death in 1986. They farmed in the town of Berry for many years and retired to Sauk City in 1982. Mrs.

Brockman was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Berry. Survivors include many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl; a daughter, who died in infancy; and 2 sisters, Linda Kahl and Dora Benish. Funeral services will be held at ST.

Ellestad Funeral Home Mt Horeb Carter, William "Kenneth" NEW LISBON William "Kenneth" Carter, age 75, of New Lisbon, died suddenly on Sunday, July 28, 1996, at the Hess Memorial Hospital in Maus-ton. He was the son of Sadie (Oconnor) and Wilferd Carter and was born August 22, 1920, in New Lisbon. He was united in marriage to Gladys Saxby on June 10, 1950, in Kendall, Wisconsin.

Kenneth was a teacher and later a school administrator working in the following towns: Necedah, Spring Green, Ripon, Desota and Water-ford, for 20 years and retiring in 1983 in New Lisbon. He served for 5 years in the Army during World War n. He is survived by his wife, Gladys; two sons, Richard of Kenosha and Craig (Carolyn) of Monroe, Wisconsin; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, July 30, 1996, at a.m. at the HAKE rUNEKAL HOME in New Lisbon.

MADISON Floyd J. David-son, age 82, of Madison, died on Saturday, July 27, 1996, at a local hospital. He was born April 2, 1914, at Storm Lake, Iowa, the son of Roy and Eugenia (Ledoux) Davidson. He graduated from the Storm Lake High School. He served in the United States Army during World War II.

Floyd married the former Dorothy Anderson on August 2, 1939. He worked 32 years as a USDA Meat Inspector at Oscar Mayer Plant, retiring in 1976. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 57 and of the 40ET 8 No. 333 of Wisconsin.

For many years he was involved in American Legion Baseball. He loved his home, nature, and his animals. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; a sister, Beatrice Davidson of Madison; two brothers, Claire (Eleanor) Davidson of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, and Roy Davidson of Waunakee; a sister-in-law, Loretta Davidson and her daughter, Patricia of Storm Lake, Iowa; and many other nieces; nephews; and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Carroll; and a niece, Ellen. Funeral services will be held at the GUNDERSON FUNERAL HOME, 5203 Monona Drive, at 10:30 a.m.

He was born Madison on August 1, 1918, a son of Emerson and Florence (White) Ela. He attended Randall School, West High School, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin after which he worked for Montgomery Ward Co. in Chicago for two years. He enlisted in the Navy in 1941 and received a commission as ensign at Chicago in January of 1942. During the war, he commanded various anti-submarine vessels in the Caribbean, Atlantic, and western Pa it -r 7 LKi Blankenship, Philip 60 Boettcher.

Blankenship, age 60, of Madison died on Saturday, July 27, 1996 in a local hospital after a long illness.

He was born on May 3, 1936 in Madison to Clarence and Cecilia (demons) Blankenship. Prior to his illness forcing him into retirement in 1982, Phil owned and operated Business Instruments in Madison. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, the Elks Club and the Sierra Club, all in Madison, Phil loved to be salmon fishing on Lake Michigan, traveling in Door County, or sailing on the Carribean. Survivors include his fiancee, Joyce Ihm of Madison, two daughters, Lynn Blankenship of St.

Paul, Minnesota, and Laura Blankenship of Atlanta, Georgia; his former wife, Betty Blankenship of Lake Wylie, South Carolina; a sister Patricia (Joseph) Hinrichs of Hendersonville, Tennessee; and a sister-in-law, Joan Blankenship of Madison. DEERFIELDOREGON Ronald F. Boettcher, age 51, of Deerfield, passed away quietly at home surrounded by his family on Saturday, July 27, 1996. Ron was born on December 28, 1944, to Franklin and Cecilia Boettcher in Madison. He drove semi-trucks for most of his adult life until a back injury forced him to give up his dearly loved profession. He worked as a self-employed mechanic since that time.

He married Carol Ryan McHenry on February 22, 1964. He is survived by his wife and eight children, Tammy (Roland) Arndt and Steven of Brooklyn, Donald of Stoughton, Traci Clifcora of Cottage Grove, Bonnie (Dennis) Pete of Deerfield, Lonnie, Lori and Brandi at home; and eight beloved grandchildren. He is further survived by his father and step-mother, Frank and Gladys Boettcher of Oregon; three brothers, Robert of Oregon, Tom (Shannon) and Dennis (Colleen) of Madison; two sisters, Patricia (Joe) Thompson of Orange, California, and Deborah (Richard) Hartman of Brooklyn; three step-brothers, David (Linda) Drews of Cambridge, Daniel (Debra) Drews and Dale Drews of Madison; two step-sisters, Gloria (Robert) Salov of Cambridge, and Beverly (Michael) MichaeTis of LeClair, Iowa. In the 1960s, he became head writer for "McHale's Navy" and ultimately the lead writer for "Gilligan's Island." In the 1970s, Murray penned scripts for the sitcoms "Good Times" and "Chico and the Man." Murray also wrote for movies, and his film credits included several Jerry Lewis films, "Robin and the Seven Hoods," with Frank Sinatra, and "Man's Favorite Sport," starring Rock Hudson and Doris Day. Rachmael Weinstock NEW YORK Rachmael Weinstock, a violinist who toured with several chamber ensembles and became a renowned teacher, has died at 86. Weinstock, who died July 19 in a nursing home, toured widely during the 1930s as first violinist of the original Manhattan String Quartet, and later played in groups including the Roth Quartet and the New York Trio. He played briefly in the Radio City Music Hall orchestra and with Arturo Toscanini's NBC Symphony orchestra for eight years.

Weinstock began teaching member in good standing of Beth Isreal Temple, B'nai B'rith Women and Hadaasah. Graveside service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 30, 1996 at FOREST HILL CEMETERY. Witt, Lester Albert MONROE Lester Albert Witt, age 86, of Monroe, died on Friday, July 16, 1996 at Monroe Clinic Hospital. He was born on November 23, 1909 in the home of his grandparents, Fred and Mary Schultz of Schultz, Wisconsin. Lester attended Dutch Hollow School in Sylvester Township and graduated from Monroe High School in 1928. He married Marie Chambers in 1935 and she preceded him in death in 1938. He then married Eunice Loeffel on June 1, 1939 in the Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church in Monroe by the late Rev.

Alvin C. Rabehl. Lester and Eunice farmed all their life in Dutch Hollow in Mt. Pleasant Township. Lester enjoyed fishing and woodworking and was also an avid sportsman.

He was appointed captain and won all conference honors for the state champion Monroe Football Team of 1926. He was named all-state fullback in 1927, running for 210 yards in a single game. He also taught at Manhat-tanville College, City College, Brigham Young University and the University of Tel Aviv. Max Winter MINNEAPOLIS Max Winter, who ran the Minneapolis Lakers, founded the Minnesota Vikings and led both to league dominance, died Friday night after a long illness.

He was 93. Under Winter's guidance, the Lakers became the NBA's first dominant franchise and the Vikings became the first NFL team to reach four Super Bowls. Winter was hired as general manager of the Lakers of the old National Basketball League in 1947. He also had a financial interest in the franchise. The Lakers won titles in 1948 and 1949 before the NBA was created, when the team won six more titles in seven years.

Winter resigned after the 1954-55 season. In 1960, just after the Lakers moved to Los Angeles, Winter and two partners founded the Vikings. He built the club that went to Super Bowls after the 1969, 1973, 1974 and 1976 seasons, losing all four times. State Journal voire services F.F.A. Chapter.

Lester was a member of the champion Monroe Rifle Club, Schultz Cycle Shop Softball team, Green County Farm Bureau, served many years on the Dutch Hollow School Board, was a director of the Dutch Hollow Cemetery Association, and a member of United Methodist Church in Monroe. Survivors include 3 sons, Paul A. and Donald both of Mon-ticello, and Richard of White Sulphur Springs, Montana; two daughters, Beverly L. (Donald) French of Blue Mounds, and Karen L. (Tom) Richey of Plymouth, Indiana; 14 grandchildren; three step grandchildren; and 16 great grandchildren.

He was also father of three foreign exchange students, 4H daughter Kikue Kato of Japan, A.F.S. daughter Marie Baedon of Ecquador, and F.F.A. son Colin Wapat of England. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Mary Marie in 1938; his father, Albert in 1963; his mother, Bessie Schultz Witt in 1976; and a grandson, Alan Witt in 1979. Memorial services will be held on Monday, July 29, 1996 at 7:30 p.m.

at the UNITED METHODIST CHURCH in Monroe, with Rev. James Preisig officiating. Interment will be in Dutch Hollow Cemetery. There will be no visitation. A memorial fund has been established for the Dutch Hollow Cemetery Association.
